I am asking if it needs a bios update

F7 BIOS was released more than 1 year ago, I'd be updated.

@FAHEM If it's revision 3.2/3.3 all BIOS versions work for that CPU

Also for the "feel free to suggest anything of the similar price", for 20 $ more if you're interested you can go i3

How do you know which version is in your motherboard

When starting up you PC you should have the option to go into your BIOS. You should be able to find the version somewhere on the startscreen. Or you just update you Bios to the latest version since any version from F7 will support that CPU.

With my Gigabyte board you only needed F3 (i got a ITX version of that board). According to your list, F4 will support the athlon. My board came with F3 and worked JUST FINE with a 7870k. It even output video to the monitor.

Not used one yet but I am considering this for my Steam Machine build "MSI A88XM-E35 V2, Socket-FM2+" ANY V2 Mobo from MSI should support Kaveri out of the box. :)

Not used one yet but I am considering this for my Steam Machine build "MSI A88XM-E35 V2, Socket-FM2+" ANY V2 Mobo from MSI should support Kaveri out of the box. :)

I'm thinking of buying that or the p33 v2
