What's the deal with the non retina MacBook Pro?

Is this a new thing or is Apple just still selling the 2012 MacBook Pro?

Actually I have one (well I got it in 2012 I guess, but its not retina). 13" with an i5 and 4 gigs of RAM. Popped an SSD in there and you know... its not too bad! Still works great, battery is amazing, could use more RAM but I don't use it enough to care. Great laptop!

And then I can upgrade it

it depends on what you are trying to do with it

if you are gaming then you can get a much better price with asus rog / lenovo

personally i find that my 2009 macbook pro with an intel ssd from 2010 runs a bit faster than my mid 2014 macbook pro with 1tb ssd. but when it come to processing its obvious the newer model is much faster. I would suggest gettting the latest model laptop you can vs an older machine.

It's very old now, I can't recommend it.
