What processor should I choose?

I play ARK: Survival Evolved, and if you know anything about that game, you will know it is VERY demanding for your computer. Currently, these are my PC specs:

 

Motherboard: ASUS F2A85-M PRO

 

CPU: AMD A10-6800K APU (Quad-core) @ 4.30 GHz

 

GPU: XFX Double D R9 270X 1050M w/ 2GB vRAM

 

RAM: 8GB DDR3

 

HDD: Western Digital Blue WD10EZEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

 

I am thinking about something along the lines of in intel i5 or an AMD FX-8350 8-core CPU. I don't mind replacing my motherboard. Something in between the $200-$300 range would be perfect.

Also, I would like to record ARK/Minecraft with Dxtory in 1080p (60fps preferably), or at least better quality than THIS:

If you need any more info, please tell me. Also, if an SSD would be a better choice for speed, I would happily get one of those as well.

i5 4690k + a cheap cooler lie the coolermaster hyper 212 evo

if you dont want to overclock just get the i5 4460 or the 4690 non k

8350 is more for livestreaming as i5 performance in games is better

i5, its got much stronger single core performance and will help in ark alot,

The only difference between the 4460 and the 4460k is that the k version is unlocked, which means you can overclock.

So the non k version is cheaper

the "k" means the cpu is unlocked for overcloking. Non k processors are cheaper than k processors.

But if you buy a k series processor you need something better than the stock intel cooler for overclocking.

at that price point you shouldn´t get an ssd unless you can live with 120gb of storage. You should put as much money on your gpu

The problem is I do want to play the latest games in 1080p 60fps and I already have a decent GPU. All I am looking to upgrade is my processor and my HDD (possibly)

You won't gain much in terms of CPU upgrade for ARK.

 

My friend with an i7-5820k and GTX 980 [OC'd] would play ARK on high settings and FPS would be around 30.

I may end up getting this, except changing the 4460 to a 4690k just incase I ever want to do some overclocking.

Well, I don't really need to play on high necessarily. Currently these are my settings.

 

Resolution: 1920x1200

Relolution Scale is almost all the way up

World Tile Buffers: High

View Distance: High

Anti-Aliasing: High

Post Processing: High

General Shadows: Medium

Terrain Shadows: Medium

Textures: High

Sky Quality: all the way down

Ground Quality: all the way down

Mesh Level Of Detail: about half

 

and I get 20-30 fps while recording and 30-40 when not. (on single player)

Ark has good multi-core support so if its ONLY for this game you can actually get a FX and not worry.

 

Is any other game having issues? :P

First, it is definetly not only for ARK. I would also like to record Minecraft, FS15, and Cities: Skylines in 108060.

 

Issues? Not really. But I cannot record in 1080p because of my processor.
