New graphics card for the folding team!

Hay guys, Just ordered a Zotac GeForce GTX 980Ti AMP Extreme Edition and I'm going to be adding it to my folding rig.

Currently im getting upto about 130k ppd with my i7 2700k @4.8ghz and 680gtx, Im looking forward to adding the 980ti.

What sort of ppd do you think we can get out of this 980ti keeping in mind the high clock speeds (Core Boost Clock: 1355MHz  & Memory Clock: 7220MHz)

Im hoping to boost my total up to 500k ppd.

Cheers

Andy

I think a single 980ti can push 450k ppd with the right work units... congrats haha

I'd say it will vary between 400K and 600K PPD

EDIT: That's on the 980ti only

I haven't seen any information about the 980ti getting anywhere close to 600k ppd, where do you get that from?

I've seen Titan X getting a bit over 600K while folding, but on a linux client. I could find the article/forum don't remember where it was.

Hmmm on linux I see. I have heard that the linux client yields better ppd. Still that would be hard to believe. I read in a forum where a guy was getting 900k or so with 2 of them, and people were talking about hitting 1m with the right work units, 600k would be surprising to me, but maybe with some insane overclock.

I found the post, It was in a topic on overclock.net where a person said he's getting 500k ppd with 1500MHz core clock and a person said "you can get 650 if you switch to linux".

So it's totally unverified, sorry if I mislead anyone.

Thanks for going to the effort to research and update though, and my 290 sitting at like 220k ppd is still pretty jealous haha.

My 970 + 4690K were getting between 250-320PPD, since the friken core 15 died.. However my internet isn't working for about a week and I can't fold :/ And I just got to top 200.

Ok, foget the off topic, OP, you'll probably be very happy with the new Increase even with (450k to 500k) + 130K PPD.

Yeah I don't know what my max is, but this summer a lot of them have seemed to average 220k or so on just the 290, the i7 gets 25-30k ppd it seems. Back in March or so I was #40 on the team, then stopped folding for awhile and started again this summer but have been doing some mod projects to my PC and gaming plus the internet suuuuuuucks so I have trouble letting it go for long. I think I fell back to the mid 60s right now. Last year when Kakao stats was a thing, My 4790k + R9 290 had me in the top 10 PPD for the team a lot, and as high as 4 once. I think our team has gotten much more active since then haha.

How do you all get so high PPD??? I have a 980Ti and only get about 75,000 points per day... I have about 1.3m total.

You should be able to beat me in 72 hours??

Go into advanced settings on the desktop program, go to configuration and you'll see a place to request a verification key or something. That gets you healthy early completion bonuses. Sorry for ther terrible paraphrase as I can't look right now.

It can get upto 600k PPD for sure (On windows, not linux), mine has done now and then, it isn't too uncommon, although it normally stays between the 450k and 550k marks.

It is in the FAQ :) http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/207857-for-folding-users-tips-tricks-and-faq-updated-aug-2014/

I typically get 600-630k with my 980Ti @ 1450Mhz/8.1Ghz, although I don't usually have it on all day so in the end it probably generates closer to 300k for me. If you have it 24/7 you should get closer to 600k PPD.

Hay guys the 980ti amp extreme turned up.

Turns out its a monster!

705k ppd on the 980ti alone

with the rest of the system that makes it upto just over 800k

Screen shot attached

Id defiantly recommend this card!

Thanks

Holy shit that is insane, hopefully that isn't a one time thing.

What PPD does your 680 get? I've recently got a hold of one but have been getting really odd WUs so it hasn't stabilised yet.

Hay,

the 680 varies from 90k to 110k depending on project on core 18, back when it was on core 17 units it was all the way up to 130k.

I was getting some odd errors with the 980ti so I'v put it back to stock clocks, that combined with a different core 18 project has seen the ppd drop back to 500k.

still on about 620k ppd for an i7 2700k @4.8 + 680gtx stock clocks + 980ti stock clocks is good enough for me!

Thanks

I don't trust what the client PPD states, it's pretty RNG ..well not that bad but yeah.  Especially take no notice of what it says for the 1st idk 5% of a WU.

I find to get a clearer average I use this http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=223518

To put things in perspective, I run a Titan X which I have overclocked a bit :) with no CPU folding (even though I have a 5960x, the CPU returns vs GPU aren't comparable) and I get like 500k PPD average which you may view in more detail here http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=678325

The client has shown me crazy shiz like 945k PPD ...which is (looking at the above links) clearly false.

CPU: i7-5960X @ 4.5Ghz MB: Rampage V Extreme GPU: Titan X (self OC) Mem: 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 @ 3000 PSU: Corsair AX1200i With Green/Black Sleeved Cablemod Cables, Case: Corsair 900D KB: Corsair K95 RGB Cherry Red, Mouse: Logitech G502 + Destructor 2 Mat, Sound: Logitech Z623 Speakers, Display: 2x Samsung BX2440's, Cooling: Corsair H100i on CPU. 5x 140mm Intake fans + 1x 140mm Exhaust.

Deltek,

You are indeed correct, a few things have seemed to give a crazy client ppd reading one of them being a driver problem.

The 980ti has settled down to anywhere between 380k and 450k work unit dependent (although if it gets a nasty core 15 it was as low as 115k)

My 680 is running a core 17 10469 project at the moment and the estimated TPF is a massive 23 mins, it 25% through the WU and usually by this point its settled down to anywhere between 3 - 5 mins TPF.  Has anybody else come across this? is it just a particularly large WU?
