So wait, the monitor does not get editor's choice, because of AMD graphics cards? And it not being nvidia? I don't get it.

Watching Intel have competition is like watching a headless chicken trying to get out of a mine field

Linus says he uses the LG 34UC97, however he seemed to have liked the Samsung S34E790C more in this video. Why does he prefer to use the LG as his day to day work monitor?

Trying to figure out the Acer XR341CK vs LG 34UC97 vs Samsung S34E790C.

Ah, my bad. I was trying to refer to the XR341CKA but I got switched up when clicking the Amazon link. I didn't realize it was a search that brought up the other model.

Acer XR341 is the G-Sync version at 100Hz

They are both 75hz if I recall correctly,

DP can only handle up to 85hz 3440x1440 ( if 3440x2160 60hz is the limit )

The XR341CKA is the G sync one, now renamed to x34 or XR34 depending, that one is rumoured to be 100Hz on release, and it is most likely going to be, big sites like tftcentral have 'confirmed it' but it will 100% be 75Hz if not.

The Freesync one is the Acer XR341CK. (With NO A) but yes at 75Hz. The title of the video is wrong :(

They are both 75hz if I recall correctly,

DP can only handle up to 85hz 3440x1440 ( if 3440x2160 60hz is the limit )

DP 1.2 can handle upto 109Hz @3440x1440 w/ 32-bit colour depth, or 3840x2160 @60Hz which is 15.93Gbit/s, 3440x1440 @100Hz is less than that, at 15.85Gbit/s

And the G sync version isn't 100% confirmed to be 100Hz, but most sites are saying it will be now: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/34.htm#acer_x34_100hz https://pcmonitors.info/acer/acer-xr341ck-and-x34-75hz-and-100hz-curved-ips-models/

They are probably the 2 'best' monitor sites that have 'confirmed' it.

Lol pretty random post seeing as it's a 3440x1440 freesync monitor O.o

There are actually no 4k G sync monitors over 30"

But there are 3 G sync monitors of other resolutions over 30" all ultrawides (Non of which are released yet)

The Acer Z35, Acer X34 and the Asus PG34Q

Great vid as usual.

However, ill have to disagree on ur "a monitor that isn't perfect, but ~ we are getting really really close".

I'd say we are still a fair ways of from a perfect monitor.

It isn't even OLED, it isn't G-Sync (as u mention one is coming though), the resolution isn't 2160p, and its to small.

Monitors need to take that step to OLED before ill EVER consider it close to perfect. LCD will ALWAYS have a drawback due to the nature of LCD technology.

Size wise, for a 21:9 screen, 34" just isn't big enough, with a vertical height of just 13.2" (roughly). IMO you'd want at least 16.3" (roughly the same height as a 16:9 34" screen) of vertical screen space for it to be big enough, and that doesn't happen with a 21:9 screen until u hit 42".

As for resolution, well once you get to that size, you will want 2160p (5120 x 2160) otherwise at 1440p, like this monitor, ur only gunna get about 110 PPI pixel density. Where as at at 2160p ull get around 132 PPI at 42", which is between a 24" 16:9 1440p display and a 4k 16:9 27" display.

So yea a realistic close to perfect monitor would be.

Whenever this happens is when I'll upgrade. Just needs to be Freesync and high refresh rate instead of G-Sync and 60hz.

I would love this too!

Random question, could a monitor technically have both G-Sync and Free-Sync?

No 144hz? No thanks. Is it so hard to make a monitor with TWO displayport cables?

Also I don't trust ACER anymore after what happend with all my 6 Acer XB270HU's.

Maybe I'm going to try this one out If I can find a returned one for 600-800€ in a few months.
