Good UltraWide IPS 4K Monitors?

theguynamedwill

Greetings My Fellow TechTipers,

Lately, I've been having a bit of a calamity with finding a suitable 4K monitor for my current needs, (or wishes, per say). So, I thought it best to deal with this troubling situation by traversing the land of TechTipers that actually know how to look for things properly and efficiently.

I'm on the prowl, if you will, for a brilliant 4K IPS Panel UltraWide or Widescreen (whatever determines wideness) gaming monitor with either Freesync or G-Sync. As for initial screen size, I really don't mind, as long as it's not the size of the Eiffel Tower. (At or under 40".)

My price range plateaus at $2000.00 and below, as if there even is a monitor that utterly steals that much yeasty dough out of your wallet.

My initial hopes when I first came to this digitized land of Linus (approxiamtely 3 minutes ago) was if someone could kindly spare me a link of sorts to a monitor that fits, or is at least sparingly near, my description ^above^ because I was unable to find such an outstanding monitor on my own time and resources.

It is my only desire that one of you many, kind PC Master Race-ers could do just that for me.

Thank You for Your Time,

-Will.

Thanks for reading!

Not gonna lie, I cringed a few times reading your post. But that just means you'll fit in here.

That being said, there isn't a perfect monitor for you at this time. You're going to have to decide between a few monitors. Right now, the closest monitor to your needs is the Acer XB280HK which is a 28 inch 4k display with g-sync and the only 4k monitor with g-sync out right now as far I know but it uses a TN panel. ASUS is releasing the PG27AQ which is similar but only 27 inches and uses an IPS panel. There's no word on when this will release but I'd expect before the end of the year. We won't see any 4k panels over 60hz until Displayport 1.3 is adopted, which is probably next year. There are no Ultrawide 4k displays currently but there are a few non G sync options that are mainly targeted towards Professional editors. I'm just assuming you have the hardware already to run 4k games, but even with high end hardware 4k gaming isn't really practical right now.

A monitor that is more practical in my opinion is Acer's Predator X34 coming out within the next month or two. It's an Ultrawide 1440p, IPS, G sync, and 100hz monitor that should run and look really nice with high end hardware. This will most likely be around $1200.

acers x34 is the best-in-slot display... and will be for the next 5 years

if you have the money, you can safely get that
