A bit of help making a PC

Go to solution Solved by JeffreyEagan,

I'd go with a kit of G.skill 16GB 1866 that costs much less, motherboard/CPU are excellent, for the power supply I'd look at something like the EVGA G2 850 watt, as I'm sure you won't need a 1kW PSU.

As for the case, I'd check out Phanteks and Corsairs Obsidian lineup.

Corsair H105 is the cooler I'd always suggest.

So i got a lot of feedback for when i asked about a GPU to buy, problem is, the GPU is most of my PC budget (980Ti).

So imma make this topic to just ask what components are good and whatnot.

So my current PC:

Intel core i5-3470 3.2GHz (3.6 turbo)

Asus H61M-K

8GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsiar RAM

Radeon R9 270x OC edition (Gigabyte windforce)

1TB WD black edition

256GB Corsiar SSD

600W PSU

That's about it i guess :P

Ok so, the PC runs every game med-high, but i want more!!!!!!1!!11

But srsly, i want to build a system that will work for years to come, that means buying everything.

So i did make a build which i think is ok, but i wanted your guys opinion too:

Intel core i5-4690k 3.5GHz

Asus Z97-A

Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8), 1600MHz

For the GPU i'm unsure, thinking about the R9 390x, but i have issues with AMDs drivers so i was thinking of either the gtx 970 (ram issues) or the gtx 980 (100€ more than the 390x)

1TB WD black edition

256GB Corsiar SSD

1000W PSU

I will put in water cooling later on, oh and i'm still missing the PC case, not sure which is good and which isn't so imma leave it up to you guys :D

That's about it i guess, my budget is around 1000-1200€, this is just in the range.

3...2...1...GO!! :P

G.skill...never really heard about them, how good are they?

Yeah, kinda thought the 1kW PSU was an overkill, tho is the 850W enough even if i overclock when i get my water cooling?

Cooler looks awesome, does it preform well?

G.skill makes some great memory, very reliable, 850 watts will do you plenty even with overclocking. The H105 performs great, my CPU never breaks 40C even in a 97F room.

Why would you need a 980Ti? Are you doing 4k at max settings? Something like an R9 390 or a GTX 970 would be fine.

Well, 1920x1080 3D and i also want to start making my own games, tho buddy said i should start with sth simple like a click game then move on to an indie game and stuff like that xD

So yeah, probably gonna get the 390x, 970 has the ram issue and i don't want to deal with that ^^

tnx for all the help :D

390x is a good choice, AMD is really booming with their new launches.
