Asus Monitor Issues -- Need help!

YellowMenace

AI've got an asus vw246h and for some reason, when this thing gets any sort of monitor input, the buttons stop working on the front. On the asus splash screen and the no signal screen, the buttons work fine, but if there's either an HDMI or a DVI input, nothing. They just stop working. If the monitor is put to sleep, you have to unplug and replug in the power, or else it won't wake.

I've googled this and have come up empty handed. Got any ideas as to what I could do to fix this?

ALSO, forgot to mention, when text appears from having no input or from switching input, it's in a mix of different languages or just random characters.
