Cheapest 1tb HDD

beach_boy98
Go to solution Solved by Aytex,

best realiable and cheapest ones are seagate baracuda/ WD black, WD Blue

For my new storage server i need some 1tb Hdds. They will be running in raid 1 with one dedicated as another backup so reliability isn't that big of a thing.Because of they need to be as cheap as possible.

Thanks Beach :)

Go to PC Part Picker, choose 1tb, and sort by price.

WD Black's are over rated, go for the WD Blue. You'll get the same performance.

my fathur has like 3 in his rig wtf u talking bout m8ty

13% failure rate and at the shop i worked at the only dead drives we had in the stack were seagates. Like 10 dead seagates and only 1 WD.

EDIT: That dead drive stack is the past 2 months, and its a small shop so thats alot of dead seagates

Will risk it at the lower cost.

The cheapest 1TB is probably from HGST or Toshiba. Not to mention they offer 3 and 2 year warranties respectively as opposed to Seagate's 1 year "we don't trust this product" warranty.

If your location is right then it's probably a Toshiba MD or DT unless the barracuda dropped. Even then, I'd rather pay a touch more for a longer warranty.

HGSTs are work horses!
