Gaming CPU needed?

I want to build a pc and i am stuck between to processors for the same cost.

AMD FX 8350 8 4.0 GHz AM3+  13900

or this

Intel Core i5 4570 4 3.2 GHz LGA1150

 14800

i would prefer AMD because it is a bit cheaper and seems to be able to perform more.

and note that i am building a gaming pc.

and i want something less than 15,000 rs (230$)

Unless you're planning on livestreaming, i'd go for the i5.

You have to compare the architecture, not just the clock speed.

Doesn't matter much. Most software is optimized for one or two cores. Not to mention intel cores being more efficient and powerful than AMD cores (higher Instructions Per Clock). Especially if all you are doing is gaming..

not just gaming maybe a little live streaming also.

You can also opt for a Xeon E3 series, but the I5 will still push further than the AMD chip anyways

So it's either the Xeon E3 or I5 at that budget

But less instructions per cycle. meaning e g that 4GHz with 4 instructions per cycle is less powerful than 3.4GHz with 7 instructions per cycle. Got it?

Did you even read my post? Not about numbers... If a cpu has a bazillion cores running at 215mhz it doesent make it good for gaming -_-

thank you guys i am going for the i5, i did not know about the instructions per cycle thanks.

Good choice. Not to mention that LGA 1150 currently has a better upgrade path than AMD's CPU's (in case you end up needing more power)

He probably didn't, because they were posted so close together and there is in fact a small bit of time also spent writing a post before it actually shows up to everyone else...

I'd reccommend marking your thread as "solved" ;-)

Eh, not really much of an upgrade path unless you count going for a marginally better locked i7 or Xeon E3 later on or buy a Z97 board from the start so you can go up to a 4790k. The upgrade path argument really applies more to buying a Pentium or i3, but for a midlevel i5 like the 4570 it probably doesn't make any sense to spend a lot of money to essentially sidegrade to a slightly higher level Haswell quadcore. LGA 1150 is a dead socket too, since Intel hasn't released any new CPU you could actually buy for it since Devil's Canyon last July.

True. It may be best to wait for Z170.

i5's dominate any FX-series processors, it's a very clear win.

Except for a few very specialized synthetic benchmarks, but in per core performance, it isn't even close to a contest anymore. Still, there is still a place for heavily specialized builds (Number crunching) and lower end builds!

I'm a proud 8350 owner however the cheap price is good but I wish I had gone for a low end Intel cpu and then I would have had much more room for upgrading with the 1150 socket. Now I have the 8350 and AMD mobo, the only way to upgrade is basically buy an Intel cpu and the have to upgrade my motheboard also so more money has to be spent :'(
