So I have a win7 homeprem sp1 OEM disc

I currently have win10 installed. I plan to change boots drives so can I reinstall win7 and then upgrade to win10 or does my win7 key work for win10?

I believe you can just download Windows 10 ISO and install it in the new boot drive without any problems as long as long as both drives (with same license) don't come online together

Select "Create Media for another PC" and then choose whether you want to download it to a USB or you just want to download the ISO

Does my win7 to win 10 idea work?

you when upgraded from 7 to 10 it should of activated it for 10. Im no expert though, i recently upgraded and clean installed. I believe you can't go straight from 7 to 10 clean install but, you have to upgrade then install to your key is transferred.

You don't need to do that. Just fresh install windows 10. Your PC is already upgraded. Microsoft knows of your pc is upgraded. They save the info of your hardware or your key in inside of the hardware. Something like that. Just fresh install w10 and you should just be able to skip the key section. If it says your pc isn't activated just wait maybe a day or two. If it still says your pc isn't activated then try putting your windows 7 key. If that doesn't work then install windows 7 then upgrade. First just fresh install w10 and give it a few days if it doesn't activate right away.

Seems easy enough
