3 Partitions 1 Disk

Ivyk

I made 2 extra partitions on my 2TB HDD. 2 of 200GB and 1 is the rest, I was wondering if I could put them back to 1 partition as I have no reason for there to be 3.

You'd have to delete all three partitions (buh-bye data) and recreate one partition in disk management.

It depends on how these partitions are set up.

You can merge several partitions together, but you can only keep the data from one of them. Assuming that 2 of the partitions don't contain data you care about then this shouldn't be an issue.

Open Disk Management and delete the two partitions that don't have data on. This will delete all the data on these partitions.

After this right click the remaining partition and click "Extend". In the window that appears choose how much to extend it by (it should default to fill the unused space after the partition).

If the remaining partition is at the beginning of the drive then that will be it, job done.

If that partition is the middle one or the end then you may need to specify to fill the space before the drive as well/instead of the space after it. It will then try to move all your data to the start of the disk, which might take a long time.

If all the partitions contain data you want then they you will need to back it up before doing this, and restore it afterwards.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you want more info :)
