The Overkiller $6500 Pc

Desertman

You could do so much better for that amount of cash :/

For instance... an MSI motherboard? really. When ASUS have their special OC socket. Why Corsair fans and not Noctua. Why an SSD and not an M.2. Those are just the obvious oddities.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

Overkill?

This is overkill if you wanted to game, but this is cheap compared to workstation and huge server builds

Kept the cpu and cooling parts the same. I changed the motherboard a little. I recommended that motherboard you chose much in the past, but I found this MSI one which is a little more expensive, but based on reviews it's much better quality than the other, as well as having better sound card.

I changed the storage a bit, I really don't think he needs 1tb of ssd space. I'm assuming he's some hardcore content creator or something. I chose two 500gb ssds for redundancy in raid 1. And added a 1tb western digital black series hdd.

for the graphics cards, a lot of reviews show the 980ti outperforming the titan x in most places, so I saved you nearly 1k by going with two 980tis. I went with the reference card since water cooling components would be more compatible, and you can OC it after.

Kept the rest the same

So you are building it for a 'friend' who is less experienced than you are? Yet he told you that it was fine and thus you bring it here?

I'm confused, how much research did you put into all of this?

There's nothing wrong with them. It's just that ASUS boards have more features at this level such as the OC socket that drives the extra voltage pins on the i7s and offers more lanes.

ASUS is more preferred at higher-end boards

They're used for really expensive builds because they have the newest features

They are also manufacturers for huge server boards that can handle 2-4 CPUs

Noctua? yeah no...Im going with corsair

Noctua is higher-end and they are quieter and faster

They have been making fans as their center piece

They put more R&D as they focus solely on fans

Corsair is decent, but at your budget Noctua is the go to brand

You are missing the point, those boards are not targeted at the server market they are targeted specifically for enthusiast gamers.

You didn't state gaming at all

ASUS making server grade boards is a statement

It shows that their quality on consumer boards is fairly similar to server-grade boards

How about we skip out on the custom water cooling because it sounds like neither of you have an idea on what your doing, The two 980Ti Hall of Fame approved by the worlds #1 or #2 and UK's #1 Overclocker 8-Pack means these cards will overclock like a fuckin champ or you can order one of 8-Packs systems off of OCUK

Edit:

forgot about explanations, 5930k is just for barging, you won't get any preformance gain with a 5960x, I believe even a performance drop because games will not utilize more then 6 cores. 5960x is just stupid, as well as 2 Titan X's. the AIO liquid cooler will suffice because it sounds like you have no idea what your doing, It will should be able to handle Overclocks up to 4GHz easy 4.9 perhaps if you get a good chip AND onto the GPU, 2 Titan X's is a nope. I assume you saw Luke's Conspirator build, where 4 Titan X's didn't mean Uber high FPS, 2 980Ti HoF's are enough, take my word on it. Add another 2 if you really want to, You will not get anywhere in performance wise as the cards where meant to handle up to 4k

You can also get CaseLabs for the case

You can also get the ArcticStorm if you want a custom water-cooled 980ti

You can also get a custom loop, just ask what parts in the watercooling forum

This overkill, but still not worth it

I'd say, go with a 4k Sync monitor. You could get 3 980 TIs isntead, water cool them, and just dedicate one to Physx when you don't need it (Some times you get stuttering).  For as much as your friend is spending I'd say he/she could get a better looking case and ram. Maybe 900d or a case labs case, and some dominator platinums. Sounds like he or she could definitely use more storage than 1tb.  Also I'd go with higher quality fans. Just based on what  you're spending, my thoughts, good luck.

A PC will only last for so long, you can't make it 100% future proof. After 2-3 generations of CPU's it will be out of date, after 2 Gens of GPU's it'll be out of date.

Technology keeps making breakthroughs and CPU's come out every year or two. Its impossible to keep up with the time. One PC will not last forever.
