Depends on the game but most games will run max settings (not 4k) but I'm not sure if it will be 60 fps.

Definitely is above 30 fps

Yes, 1080p will be maxed out with a gtx970.

No, for 144hz you would need to put everything on medium settings on 1080p to even reach 144 fps.

Depends on the game, got any examples? We can point to benchmarks but unless we know your use case we can't give specifics!

U wont run everything maxed with 1 gtx 970 on all games. Get gtx 970 sli or 980 ti.

Maybe, no clue. You might, but not for much longer. 390x.

970's in sli are completely pointless.

completely wrong..... 970 sli is better than a single 980ti or titan x.

390x is not worth the jump in price from the 390 either.

yes it is.

and you can probably get two 970s for less than a single 980ti, the only advantage the 980ti has is the vram.

Pretty much. The 2 cheapest cards costs about $600 together, and at that price you could just get a 390x, 980ti, or 2 290's(which would equal a 295x2). Also, their 3.5 vram limit will hurt you when you decide to step up your res or frames.

I'd still say get one single card over two in SLI

But I definitely disagree that "970 in sli is pointless"

Not true.

Raw performance, barely. And once you hit the 3.5 limit, have fun.

I have gtx 970 sli. I would definely take gtx 980 ti over gtx 970 sli. But since i own it i can say "3.5gb vram" is not true. I do pass it and it works fine or are u saying one card will work fine and others will shutter? Here you go some videos with 3.5gb> if you want some prove.

maxed 1080p or 1440p on very high/ultra at 60 fps is doable with a 970. 144 fps would require you to lower settings or sli.

SLI 970 is a fine for today's games! The 3.5 gb is nothing like is posted by the haters. I am running 2 in a x58 920 rig on a PG278Q 144. Amazing.

If you don't have the money for a 980ti. Get a 970 and only sli later if you want the boost!

970 SLI doesn't make any sense to buy now from the start with the 980 Ti offering similar performance for a similar price and with less power consumption. But it's still an awesome option if you already have a 970 and want to go up to 1440p 60 Hz or run 120/144 Hz 1080p on new AAA games by getting a second.

The GTX 970 can max out almost any game at 1080P >60 FPS. If you want to play at 144Hz, don't expect to do it on a single GPU outside of source games (like CSGO) or mobas unless you wanna play at low settings, or unless you want a stupid powerful GPU like 980 Ti / Fury X.
