Scam upgrade Windows 10 e-mail spreading

GoodBytes

Scammers are quick to adapt. While many waits for their upgrade of Windows 10, from either their wave cycle or driver support, fake Microsoft e-mail is going through the web that with instruction to run an attachment saying that it is a needed update or simply what you need to install Windows 10.

The attachment is nothing more than a malicious one. It is a ransomware. It encrypt the user personal files using a string encryption, and asks money to hopefully decrypt them.

So, if you know a family members that might not be too tech savvy, you may want to warn them about these fake Microsoft e-mails.

Thankfully, the e-mail is also easy to spot, containing character errors everywhere,

And also, is doesn't include Microsoft logo or any trademark logo/signs (were they afraid to be sues by Microsoft?!)

Clearly scammers are trying to get people who are a bit too eager to get their win10 fix.

Do you know anyone who got these e-mails?

Honestly, among all scams, I expected "Windows Technical Support" to call people on "helping" them upgrade their system to Windows 10, and asks for ludicrous amount of money for their "service", like informing via a fake program that you have hundred of "viruses", and needs to be "fixed".

*sigh* I've always thought ransom-ware to be the most despicable form of stealing money from others via the use of computers. I hope not many people fall for it.

Yea. Viruses is no longer the real threat. It is now malware and ransomware, way easier to program, and people fall on them as they are easily fooled by running it themselves.

I should probably call my Grandpa about this. He's been eager to upgrade to Windows 10, but he's fallen for scams before...

Number one step to reading any email that isn't personal or you weren't expecting, check the sender address and domain. Also, don't pay jack-shit to these mofos.

I'm sill having trouble believing with everything governments and tech security gurus can do on the intent vis-a-vis spying, hacking, honeypotting etc, that they can't follow the payment back to the pricks that do this.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

That would be implying that they gave a damn. ;)
