does gaming at 1920x1080 looks good on a 27'' 1440p monitor?

i_build_nanosuits

Hey guys, i think i'll get myself to 1440p gaming but for now i only have a GTX 780 which is not quite fast enough in some games at 1440p...so to YOU guys who own 1440p monitors...how for example would BF4 look at 1080p on a 1440p display with the settings on ultra and 4xMSAA (settings i use for 1080p)...does it looks blury? stretched? or does it look just as good as if a 1080p display? I know i can play BF4 on veryhigh settings with 2xMSAA and get my desired framerate (tested with DSR) but some other games just won't run that well IMHO, more demanding games...but i play a lot of ''not so demanding'' games that i would like to render at higher resolution (Rocket League, VRC PRO..other race or sports games etc...) But for the demanding AAA titles i would like to be able to run max settings 1080p like i do now, but i don't want it to look like shit.

Don't lie, please...i'm looking for real raw inputs on this, i'm very picky, if it's blury or does not looks fine i'll hate it!

Thanks!

It won't look very good, lower other settings, resolution should be the last thing you touch.

you tried it? ...that's not the answer i was hoping for...i have a very hard time tunning down the settings...in some games i just NEED to have them maxed out...looks like the monitor upgrade will have to wait till i can upgrade both the GPU and monitor then :(

The 780 is still a pretty powerful card, and at higher resolutions MSAA, motion blur, etc, are not as necessary. I would play at 1440p with maybe some settings turned down, see how it goes, i mean, the 970 is considered a 1440p card, and performance wise it's very similar to a 780, so i see no reason your card wouldn't be able to handle 1440p decently, the point of higher resolution is not needing anti-aliasing as much after all. Are you planning on upgrading your GPU soon too? If you sold your 780 a 980 wouldn't cost that much, and EVGA is selling the kingpin 980 for 500 bucks on their site. Maybe upgrading GPU first? it's cheaper considering you should get at least 300 bucks for your 780, i'll leave the link, Good luck!

do you know if EVGA will ship it to canada?

Cause the prices i'm looking at on PCpartpicker are MUCH higher than this...(cheapest is a shitty zotac card for 629$ :()

EDIT: holy shit it looks like they do and it will cost 50$ shipping...and no tax...but maybe customs to pay...i will have to check with them how much that would be...man this is the best price exver for a GTX 980...i will consider this for sure, thanks a lot man!

Sure thing, someone else on the forum mentioned it and figured you may benefit from it. And its a Kingpin, like, high end 980 :P

yeah but i think that the 499$ is USD and once translated to CAD it will be over 650$ charged on my credit card which is simply too much...our weak ass canadian dollar is really killing us right now.

Well, that's a nice deal but if it's not worth it internationally, you can always get a 980 locally, the kingpin happened to be an extremely high end card at a 'stock' 980 price, but you can get a more standard 980 for less money and the difference isnt worth the extra money. I had an uncle who travels to the US get my 970 through customs tho, if it's open they shouldn't tax you :P

Making friends on the other side of the border could be benefitial.
