Whats the best wireless card? Is 802.11a/b/g/n better than 802.11a/b/g/ac? or even 802.11b/g/n?

don't get yourself confused.

any one will do. I recommend Rosewill's PCI-E 

or just use ethernet and save yourself the struggle.

Your a real help you know that? Anyways I would go Ethernet but I have to run it through a wall and I don't exactly know how or whats the best way to do that

ac is the best at the moment, but in all honesty i cant tell the difference between the protocols - heres a quick explanation http://www.flashrouters.com/blog/2012/11/29/the-difference-between-wireless-g-wireless-n-wireless-ac/

 

i have all tplink products, mainly because we got the best modem/router we could at the time for the budget which was a tplink, i then threw a t8e into my desktop (dual band) and a pci tplink single 300mbps into my media pc and i cant tell the difference. The t8e being a 80$ card and the pci card being $25 lol

 

edit: i also have a wall separating the lesser card to the router but only a distance (direct route) of about 4 metres (with a internal wall) and my desktop with the better card is about 2.5 m away from the router with nil walls... as i highlighted above i cant tell the difference.

All they're doing there is listing backwards compatibility. It's slightly complicated by the fact that there are two bands (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz) which some use and others don't but generally if you buy the newest one you get support for older standards.

 

In a nutshell when it says a/b/g/n/ac:

2.4Ghz: b -> g -> n

5Ghz: a -> n -> ac

 

a/b/g/n:

2.4Ghz: b -> g -> n

5Ghz: a -> n -> ac

 

and b/g/n:

2.4Ghz: b -> g -> n

5Ghz: a -> n -> ac
