r9 290x and a 450w PSU O:

I'd still pay a bit more for a second hand 970 especially in your case and PSU

Hey guys

So i have this build im making and i can get a good price on the r9 290x trix card

The build is as follows :

case: Silverstone rvz 01

cpu: i5 2500k

mtb:Zotac H55ITX

psu: Silverstone 450W St45SF (36a on 12v)

 

Basically i want to know if the psu can handle it

Notes: im not overclocking anything.

Ive heard mixed things so i hope you guys can point me in the right direction

I'm getting away with a 630W with a 290x Lighting I would say a good 500W would be enough

Ummm people apparently do not wattage good.

 

That is enough wattage for sure my friend.

Here's a nice reference for wattage to see how much you're likely using. TL;DR, OC'd GTX 680 + 3770k OC'd plus lots of drives and fans = 350W

EDIT: keep in mind he's limited to SFX PSUs and that Silverstone isn't exactly weak sauce when it comes to quality.

You're more than OK my friend. (I don't recommend OCing in an SFX form factor build anyways.

Eh, the 290X Tri-X being an open air card will put out a lot of heat into that small case as well, how much is the price difference compared to a 780 or 970?
