Audio not working Windows 8.1

kameshss

Hi guys,

I'll tell you what happened in short form.

  • Low wattage PSU (180W) cannot power all things in my PC, <-- given by lenovo oem
  • So changed to 250W PSU,  <--- taken from my friend's HP desktop
  • Its been 2 months,
  • Everything working fine until now,
  • I heard Coil Whining sound in PSU,
  • So removed the PSU and cleaned the dust in there (but it still remains, the coil whining),
  • Re attached PSu and switched on, I see that audio is not working.
  • So I thought of installing drivers. I used to have Windows generic audio driver. So I installed Realtek driver (Mine is Realtek). No solution.
  • Then I installed Ubuntu on my other HDD, and still I can't hear anything there, still problem there.

So can you guys help me out here.

I did everything I could.

No solution guys..

Do you thing PSU fried my audio chip?

Also I checked bios, Onboard audio is enabled..

That would be an oddly specific thing for your PSU to fry... Is it enabled AND set to default? You need to set it to default for it to work properly. Does your front panel audio work?

What do you mean by "Is it enabled and set to default?"

If you are asking about Onboard Audio controller setting in BIOS, yes. It's enabled always. I check thrice.

In sound devices in windows, you can enable devices (so they show up) and you can set them to default, which means that they will be used whenever you open a new application.
