Will viruses transfer from 7 to 10?

My mom might upgrade from windows 7 to 10. But we want to know if any viruses she may have on her 7 comp will affect 10 at all. Thanks for any help!!!!

Probably unless you tell it to wipe the drive and install fresh.

well if you dont use the "refresh" function of Windows10 after the upgrade all the applications will remain. Since the kernel doesn't change much compared to Win7 those applications will have a good chance to still run. I also dont know if the "refresh" also cleans the registry meaning any hooks contained in there could still remain as well.

 

so to sum it up: yes there is a really good chance that might happen. Try the "refresh" though if you really dont want to install from scratch.

Upgrade it them fresh install it. Don't fuck around with malware.

malware-bytes and a clean instal if that doesn't work.

If you upgrade within windows, yes.

If you do a clean install, no.
