upgrading my laptop's APU/CPU. HELP!

Hello guys!

I have an older laptop that I was thinking of upgrading the parts on so that I can play League of Legends and CS GO at a decent frame rate (low to medium).I was wondering if anyone that has upgraded their laptop's APU/CPU could give me some advice. I don't really use it anymore since I have a gaming desktop but it would be nice to have a laptop that can run league at 60fps (or close, at lowest settings even) for when I go to a friend's place or to a impromptu LoL LAN party.

Now before anyone start's calling me a 'noob' or an 'idiot', I honestly don't expect any upgrades (if possible) to make my little laptop into a super gaming rig lol. Again, I just want something that can hopefully run League of Legends at 60fps(or close) even on lowest settings. Right now, my laptop can't even do that. ( I often get drops as low as 4 fps at lowest settings)

Also, a little experimenting can be a fun and good learning experience.  ;)

The laptop's (HP Envy 6-1040ca) specs are:

  • AMD A6-4455m 2.1Ghz (up to 2.6Ghz with Turbo Core)
  • 8GB of RAM
  • 240GB SSD (replaced the laptop's original mechanical drive)

I figured that aside from the APU, the laptop's specs seem pretty decent so I focused on looking for a replacement for the APU. I'm thinking of replacing the A6-4455M with the A10-4600M or A10-5750M because these are the best chips in that APU lineup.

Some of my questions are:

  1. Is this possible?
  2. Will the A10-4600M or A10-5750M be compatible with my motherboard?

Any advice would be much appreciated!  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Take apart the laptop and see if the APU is soldered into the motherboard......if it is then you can't upgrade the APU.
