Windows 10 rollout is severely stressing CDN's currently at 10Tbps and rising

peer2peer would of been a good idea for win 10... also would of showed a legitimate use of P2P in the form of bittorrent or something. 

 

 

But guess they decided to crash the entire internet instead. good job MS.

windows 10 does have it.

windows 8.1 and 7 don't so they won't start using p2p till the next patch Tuesday.

and 10.1 will use p2p to be delivered

its a shame the windows 10 update didn't use it.

 

But windows 10 does do it now.

Oh then that's great. It should take away quite a bit of load from their servers.

Command prompt as admin : wuauclt.exe /updatenow

DELETE all contents from C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. Worked for me! Because of deleted BT content my updater didnt work (some errors on past updates in Windows 10 Update), now works!

Delete your software distro thing before hand and do the update, mines doing it as we speak.

Which would have screwed most university users who have independent computers. Mine is one of the 75% of universities in the U.S. who block P2P traffic. If you have a VPN, then there are ways around it, but the point remains.

Well I ran the cmd code first and I got an error when downloading windows 10.so I would delete those files first. It was really easy . thought I had an issue with drivers for my gpu but a restart fixed everything it looks so nice now. Just need to figure out how to resize that search bar in the task bar.

right click on taskbar (not the icons) and is an option in properties

Win 8.1 here, no luck for me. Reddit says could take up to 5 mins for it to work though. We will have to see!

A more intelligent way of distributing the OS is if you were to have 1 computer download it per household and then just copy it over the lan network

But, I am not a networking guy, so I am not sure how well this would actually work

Windows 10 actually has that exact feature for all Windows updates. :P I think its opt-in though if I recall correctly.

Size on disk for my windows 10 download is 5.52GB, which is just a little higher than the 3GB estimate. I've had to call and warn several people who are on slower internet connections about their internet being slowed down for the update.

 

I dunno... considering Microsoft was one of the founding members that helped create the internet, they should get at least some leeway for the windows 10 update.

That is a cool feature! I have to remember to enable that so when a windows update is rolled out my network doesn't go down

same here!!! wonder if it'll work at school (or even starbucks or something) lol. I can just feed off of everyone's updates so I dont have to wait forever xD

Does anyone know if anything will change for Insiders running the Windows 10 Insider Preview?? I am currently using it and I'm kinda curious.

Well I ran the cmd code first and I got an error when downloading windows 10.so I would delete those files first. It was really easy . thought I had an issue with drivers for my gpu but a restart fixed everything it looks so nice now. Just need to figure out how to resize that search bar in the task bar.

How do you download it yet? I haven't been given the option yet.

Command prompt as admin : wuauclt.exe /updatenow

DELETE all contents from C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. Worked for me! Because of deleted BT content my updater didnt work (some errors on past updates in Windows 10 Update), now works!

Delete your software distro thing before hand and do the update, mines doing it as we speak.

I work and staples and got my hands on an Upgrade USB for our demo PC's, and installed it on my laptop a few hours ago. Just got a new 2-in-1 last week, and am digging it so far. Only issue I had is I had to reinstall my touchpad driver (buttons and gesters didn't work), and an update my Intel video driver.
