Certainly not. Sky UK are fucking epic. 100% unlimited always and forever and they're pushing me 40 meg fibre for £20 a month.

No joke I once downloaded 200GB in a month (actually around 3 weeks), not so much as an email, letter, phone call and no throttling, nothing from them at all.

Just cause you yanks have it bad doesn't mean everyone has it the same.

I'm a yank. new york, using optimum. this house downloads well over 200GBs in a week, easy. We download a lot of games, movies, and TV shows. I also don't get notices/emails about using up a lot. & never been throttled. we get like 100mb/s down & like 50mb/s up. it isn't all bad :P

I should mention we're paying for cable. althugh clearly, we don't need it anymore. optimum won't let us disconnect the cable from the package and keep internet & phone at a resonable price :'(

yes. tmobile is the cell. no complaints there either tho. the plan is unlimited and seems legit, but I don't use it much so it might not. optimum hotspots and whatnot, I just download big files from there. if none is around, I use the unlimited plan. however, it rarely happens.

$30 a month of unlimited LTE on Verizon  :P

 

Although Verizon made a statement they don't throttle LTE, I still somewhat get "throttled" as my phone randomly switches to 1x or 3G when my data usage is high. Sneaky Verizon.

no one wants to pay 100M fine. I guess the big question is if they where clear or not. if they state you have unlimited, and you can get it for cheaper if you accept throttling after a certain speed, thats more then fine. but if not. sketchy.

 

 

the problem with mobile is they can not promise min speeds, as it depends on signal strength. so theres nothing to hold them accountable. 

You can't call it "unlimited" if there are severe speed limitations which only kick in after you use a certain amount of data. Clearly there is a limit. It's not a "hard" limit that cuts you off completely once you exceed it, but it's still a limit. If you want to slow people down when the network is congested, then... okay. It's undesirable, and reflects badly on their capability as an ISP, but it's "okay" in a negative sense. However, if you need to slow people down when the network is congested, you have to treat everyone on the same plan equally. You can't slow down only the people who have exceeded their data cap. If you do, that conflicts with the description of their plan as "unlimited".
