OUYA - the crowning joke of Kickstarter. When it first came out, it was great, people wanted it, so it gained a lot of money on Kickstarter. After it's release it was one fail after another, and OUYA is keeping the fails rolling, unfortunately...

In 2013, OUYA set aside $1 million for developers to make games for the OUYA. So long as the developer launched the game first on OUYA, then they would get a cut of that money. Some games have come on, but many have not. For the games still in development, OUYA has announced that the funds no longer exists. Where have they gone? Who knows. So how much have these developers lost? Anywhere from $7,500 to $30,000. That's a lot of money for an indie studio.

Unfortauntely for the developers, but fortunately for OUYA, this move was justified by a clause in the contract to OUYA being bought out. Whatever's left of OUYA and/or Razer have some explaining to do.

That's changed now.

Bought a friend one. He uses it for XBMC. I had been holding out for the second generation. I wanted something with a little more power. Like everyone else, I am surprised they still have a active dev community.

Why would you be surprised? Just because you lost interest doesn't mean devs who had already agreed to develop their games for it are just going to abandon their games.

Ouya as an entity disappeared after launch, something went wrong.

A number of the games have ended up on other platforms, hopefully those developers have at least been able to recoup their costs.

Pretty crappy either way.

Adam Sessler called this out back with the OUYA's launch - the CEO, Julie Uhrman, had no clue how to launch a game console. She kept pushing "we're here for developers, we're here for game developers", yet constantly had NOTHING to show for her platform coming up on release. Barely any games at all to show, and no major games to push interest in the console

It's difficult to play someone when you have no money. Why did anyone get on this bandwagon I will never understand.
