Can a r9 280x mine well?

My friend has developed the hobby of cryptocurrency and wants to mine bitcoin with a small pool. Can the r9 280x mine better than a gtx 970?

My i5 6500 is bad and can't even maintain 4.5ghz, and 4.4ghz causes it to slowly become unstable over weeks with a vcore of 1.395. FML

It's irrelevant. Bitcoin is all ASIC now, you aren't gonna get anywhere with a GPU.

"LTT's official.."STOP. I promise you aren't LTT's official bagel eater or whatever. Trust me.

Bit coin needs a asic miner to get anything, and you will still get nothing.

That's incorrect.  It's far from dead, but you need to mine in a pool if you want to get anywhere.

that is unprofitable too.

Why would you mine for profit? I thought it was hobby. Unless you pay .10 cents a kilowatt you can't make anything.

Just because you don't care, doesn't mean other others don't. Don't be a self-centered asshole. -Thank You a PSA from the people who do not say random shit on the internet.

No. If you pay anything at all for electricity you will likely lose money, because you will be making pennies a month if even that.

280x draws let's say 270W at full load. Cost of electricity for a month at full speed would be around 30$ (price in my country), and with it's 800 Mhash/s performance you would mine bitcoins worth 0,05$.

That is a 29,95$ loss every month :D
