Sony: 1080p 60fps Makes A Huge Difference

Remember all the bull crap that devs claiming 30fps is the best option for games as it gives a “cinematic” feel. Well know that their console can handle 60fps 1080p they have changed their minds, now according to Sony, it “makes a huge difference”.

Sony realised this when making Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection in 1080p and 60fps. According to Sony Worldwide Studios development head Scott Rohde, these specifications make a huge difference in any game, although 1080p/60fps is a general requirement for next-gen video games now. Rohde appeared on the latest PlayStation Blogcast and talked about Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, saying fans will appreciate the upcoming polished video game collection pack. He said:

“We talked about 1080p/60–that makes a huge difference in any game. I think you’re going to really appreciate that.”

Finally this will stop all the 30fps crappy ports! Guess we can more expect ports to be at least 60fps.

makes sense. whenever the a new gpu, console, whatever, comes out. it takes time to optimize it. 

 

if you ever had to sell anything ever, you would understand their marketing. my car has a 130 hp and is a manual and is tiny. so how do I sell it? it handles well, quick acceleration, and gets amazing gas mileage. you dont need top speed as theirs speed limits. so who cares besides off the line. 

 

slap a turbo on the car, 200 hp, but gets shit mileage. how do I sell it now? handles well, and now CRAZY acceleration. now you can do highway pulls. now I brag about 0-60, and top speeds. why? its capable of that now.

 

 

...basically if their product can only do 30 fps releasably, its the best damn 30fps in the world. but now they dont have to do that anymore. and push how great they are. now everyones excited and happy, when it should've been excited. its like when that one kid actually picks up after himself, so his parents buy him ice cream. but the kid who picks up his toys every single time doesn't get shit.

See, I want to get a PS4 for some of the exclusives (Uncharted, Second Son, Ratchet and Clank, and probably more), but I also don't really want to spend $400 on a console that I won't spend all that much time playing on (plus, free PSN on the PS3 is still really nice...although, I don't foresee myself getting any PS4 exclusives that would require PSN anyway).

Yea, but consoles cant handle 60fps unless the graphics take a major hit, + they should not brag about being able to push another 30fps out of a last gen game, thats just sad

I would consider one if it supports more file types (like MKV) for streaming movies from my PC.

You only have to pay for PSN if you want to use PSN -- a PS4 is still functional without PSN (just no access to online games).

Agreed Sony. And though you will never agree to this, your console it's just flatout not capable of sustained 60fps for recent games that are not PS3 remades. So what should we expect then? Kinda doubt it will be a PS5 this soon.

 

Also the logical step would be for them to just release a Playstation store software for the PC and compete with Valve bringing their titles but I kinda doubt that they're too well, Japanese, to admit defeat like that.

 

No what I think is that they will come up with a PS4 "the nicer version" and just sell PS4 branded consoles with improved hardware, possibly even a dedicated GPU. For a lot more $ than the current one but they will just made games "backwards compatible" with the current, poor people version of their PS4

 

I know it sounds out there but trust me, it will happen they're just paving the way.

Well ok they are not free, but since I am paying for the service anyway they are essentially without extra cost on top of the service

 

every month I get like 2 ps3 games, 2 ps4 games and 2 ps vita games, so its pretty decent, it helps me rationalise the cost of PS Plus which I pay like £7.99 a quarter for

Every month I get 2 ps2 or ps3 era games, 2 more modern games and 2 indies, all at a significant discount on Steam. Except I can skip getting them if they're no good ones on sale that month so to speak. Plus, and this is the important part, I don't have to pay or keep paying for motherfucking online playing. No matter how many good, decent or crap games they include for free, they just basically bribe you to establish charging for something that used to be motherfucking free in the past.

 

No the costs haven't changed that much, yes they're just fucking greedy fucking assholes. This is like bottled water everybody just fucking shut the fuck up and took it until water, something free and complementary in the civilized world, became a fucking commodity for no good fucking reason at all.

1) At least we agree that it is bullshit, certainly doesn't completely excuses you from still supporting it but I can understand that you'd quit if there was an alternative for the BS without loosing access to console exclusive titles

I hope that it won't become trend on consoles. 720p & 30hz is the way to go . We'll move forward a bit in graphics - both PC and console users .

I dont own the PS4/Xbox one yet, but I do have a 360 and PS4

 

Those steam games are like 11 years worth, which if you work it out is not that much a month

So thats £38 a month on games or £9.86 with sales - bear in mind my take home pay is £1200 a month after tax etc
