what is it? just a rebranded R9 270X, and by looks of it, will have the exact same clocks too ...

wow that's some next level stuff...AMD HAS to innovate to keep their consumer base. I clearly have no idea how much work goes into a new GPU, but they have to lower temps, power consumption and increase performance if they want to keep their heads above water

Only difference I can see is the memory vendor

IMO the 270X is a good card but seeing it getting rebranded is quite a pitty.

A rebranded R9 270X , which was a rebranded 7870 GHz(pretty much), which was a rebranded 6970!

What a great world we live in, AMD releasing a rebranded 4 year old gpu <3 .

More VRAM, also the 6970 has a different architecture.. so actually its 3 years... but  the 370X supports DX12, so at the most you could call it a "REFRESH" of the 7870 ghz edition.. It isn't a rebrand.

I am a AMD fanboy.. but I think its weird that they are prepping a card that  is in a higher end class then the GTX 950 to combat it :/

you gotta admit that for, essentially, a 4 year old GPU, it's still relevant and it still performs good <_<

@zMeul It isn't a rebrand, its a refresh, since it supports DX12 out of the box.

Its understandable, they're in a tight financial position, trying to make some moolah, and at this point it's pretty much 'Zen or Nothing'.

IMO the 270X is a good card but seeing it getting rebranded is quite a pitty.

the 270X was a good card 1-2y ago, not today; I know, I had a 7870Ghz Ed that went dead 2y in

the 270X lacks FreeSync, True Audio - it's just very old GCN 1.0

both 7870Ghz and 270X support DX12 out of the box too, they're all GCN 1.0

it's a refresh of nothing, it's the same god damn ASIC as the rest of the 3xx series

And GCN 1.0 came out in 2011 or 2012 if I recall correctly...

As a 270X owner I'm more than pleased with its performance. I can't dismiss a card just because it lacks some features I won't be using anytime soon. By the time FreeSync monitors get affordable here I'll probably be replacing most (if not all) of my components

The 7870 is not a rebadge at all, it's a different architecture.

But the 370x may support Free Sync, True Audio, etc... Isn't the main purpose of 300 series that all cards will support these technologies?

perhaps you're referring to 7870XT based on Tahiti LE, because the 7870Ghz is on Pitcairn XT later renamed Curaçao XT for 270X

since it's the same ASIC, it cannot

Hmmm. So that may be reason why they moved it down from R9 to R7. All R9 3xx support it if I am not wrong so it seems that only R9 will support all newest technologies and R7 only may support some.

Only the R9s this will be an R7.

Edit: beaten to the punch ;)
