Gaming Station, Should I Game At 1440p Or 1080p?

Desertman

Hello, I am doing a computer build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HwvCQ7 and im not that experienced to decide if the graphics card is able to game at 1440P. Of course it can game at 1440P but I am a person who NEEDS 60 FPS and the only games I would really run on it that are graphic intensive would be Call Of Duty 3 or maybe some battlefield games. Other games I might play would just be old games like Left 4 Dead 2 or Garrys Mod, So at 60 FPS Which would be better for stable Frames? 1440P or 1080? Or should I just suck it up and game at 4k?/

1080p in my opinion.

For the build, get a BeQuiet! Pure rock, you won't be overclocking but the BeQuiet is quieter then the 212 Evo.

The PSU is crap. Get a EVGA GS or G2 series.

You don't need a z97 mobo with a locked CPU and the thermal paste is also a waste of money.

1440p if you can turn down the details a bit for the more intensive games, but if you want as close to Ultra 60fps as you can, go 1080p. Also if you want to go with a Black/Red theme, like you seem to want to do with that case, use this memory and motherboard:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($135.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($52.98 @ OutletPC)

Total: $188.97

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Since when is the SuperNova NEX series bad?

It's the one he picked. He picked a G1 series which was made by FSP which isn't very good.

Some lesson. EVGA use rebrands from other companies such as SeaSonic and SuperFlower. Those are good ones but they also use bad ones from companies like FSP. A few good ones from EVGA are the GS, G2, B2, And T2. A few more and I can name them if you wa t. Just because it's a supernova series doesn't mean it's good. A ton of companies like Corsair, XFX, and Antec also do this so that's why you wanna research your PSU. A lot of people go towards SeaSonic and SuperFlow OEMs and Delta is also a good one.

I know. But they're both evga branded. People will expect the same quality but unfortunately it did not turn out to be that way.

Seeing as you seem to know a ton about PSUs, would a Fractal Design Integra M 550W Semi Modular be ok? All the reviews are good, but I can only find review of the 650W ones, and my budget is already stretched as it is.

I Should get a BeQuiet For Noise And Db Levels and all but I don't mind the sound so much as I mind the image because Im more of a high quality headphone person plus its always hot where I am so I have a fan running which is definitely going to be louder than the pc

Not just that it'll just overall have better temps compared to the 212 Evo

If you want 60 fps in 1440p, you need to buy a r9 fury x or a 980 ti. a 390x or 980 will perform the best at 1080p.

I am at 1050 at the moment, I was going to upgrade to be able to do 1440 but the reality is it's not worth spending the extra when 1080 is acceptable for now and 4k is around the corner.

I'd build for an all out 1080 rig now instead of a reasonable 1440 and poor 4K build.
