Gaming/Workstation build @ $2200 budget 1440p or 4k res. Your thoughts?

I decided to retire the old Razer Blade 2014 so I can build my own PC. I play demanding games and I enjoy coding/videoediting/rendering etc (mainly gaming). I will most likely add an ssd to the build in a couple weeks or so, but do you think this is the right build for me? I like a stable 60 fps...

Bad PSU Choice. Get an EVGA GS or G2 series PSU.

For $2200 you can easily get an SSD.

The Titan x is a waste of money. The GTX 980Ti at $300+ cheaper can perform the same

If you want a 120/140mm rad by far the NZXT x41 from what I know is very good. It's performs very similar 1-2C to the corsair h100i

There's better air coolers for the money in the price range. The BeQuiet! Pure Rock is quieter and will have better temps for the same money. Another reason to not is a AIO has more stable temps but at thst price a BeQuiet! Dark rock 3 or dark rock pro 3 would be a much better choice.

Not a fan. No SSD on a build of that caliber? Shameful.

I'd probably go with 2 980Ti's at that price. Just a little more, and if people start utilizing DX12 to it's potential you'll get 12gb of VRAM anyway.

Plus they're about the same performance.

Get a better power supply. Honestly, I have no idea why people cheap out on this part. It's the heart of your PC. It dies horribly and it can take other things with it.

Never ever heard of it! :o

Something called the band wagon. An example would be, Kindda like beats and sennheiser ( there are other companies that offer better headphones also, this is just one). Everyone knows about beats but never heard of the better cheaper or around the same priced product.

I think you should go for Western Digital drives! I'm going for a 2 x 1TB WD Blue setup. They're more robust than Seagates. Slap in some Samsung 850 EVO's there (maybe a single 512GB boot drive?).

Also, why not go for 750W? The Seasonic X-750 looks good. I'm mainly just speaking from everything I've read as I'm in the process of building a computer right now. :)

Also, going for 1440p might be better in the next 2-3 years since current high-end hardware struggle in keeping things at ULTRA/MAX in 4k resolution. Just my 2 cents.

Something called the band wagon. An example would be, Kindda like beats and sennheiser ( there are other companies that offer better headphones also, this is just one). Everyone knows about beats but never heard of the better cheaper or around the same priced product.

True! :D

don't get the H80i. Get a nepton 240m. Bigger rad, more cooling potential, Square framed fans so the pressure doesn't leak. All means more overclocking potential

Also, why get a Titan X. It's basically a 980Ti with twice as much RAM for twice the price. Get a 980Ti, The G1 Gaming from gigabyte would do, and for the money you save you can very nearly buy another

Never ever heard of it! :o

I updated the build. What do you guys think now?

Wouldn't it be better to get a titan x due to more vram/future proofness?

Is it bad? No. Is it bad for the $1000-$1099 price tag? Yes very bad.

GTX 980Ti performs almost exactly the same at $300-$350 cheaper depending on which one you get.

The 6gb of VRAM is plenty and for 4k you want atleast a SLI or .crossfire setup because any single card more then likely won't achieve 60fps constantly at the settings you like.

@kaoskhan just a point, for 16GB, 2x8 works better than 4x4 for some odd reason..

If you get a 980Ti, you'll be able to get 32GB of ram with the money you save, which would benefit the workstation side of your build. a 4x8 setup would do perfectly

Is it bad? No. Is it bad for the $1000-$1099 price tag? Yes very bad.

What do you guys think about this new build? I change a few things around. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/4639Hx

Is the titan x really that bad?

It's horrible value for dollar and won't really get you any better results than a 980Ti.

You don't need a 5930k. It's an overclocked 5820k with more PCIe lanes which isn't needed unless you 4-way SLI which no one would do because that's a waste of money.
