Best Budget DSLR Mic

Hi Guys,

I need a mic for my 650d. I have been using the onboard mic, and honestly, it doesnt sound that bad sometimes! it has decent bass.. And i was shocked at how good it picked up the piano! My brother was playing it, and i was just messing around and recording outside the window.. it was a rainy day, and it looked quite good! he didnt play very low, but it sounded decent..

But im going to be recording stuff like that.. just jamming sessions.. and i need a mic that will pic up music nicely... i will be mainly recording music, and like ambient sounds, maybe sometimes a little bit of voice...

So i need a good mic... instruments will mainly be guitar(acoustic, electric), piano, bass (just a little), and maybe a little bit of drums... it doesnt have to sound amazing, just good enough... but mainly focusing on the guitar and piano.. I will also be shooting stuff like worship services, where everything is mixed up...

It needs to be fairly cheap, im looking at a max of £30ish...

I can provide you with some of the samples i got from the internal mic.. its not that bad... just not good enough...

Thanks

Gershy13

I'd get the Rode Video Mic Go. Great budget mic from a reputable brand.

its a little more than i want.. also, because its directional, it wouldnt do very well with worship service thing?
I wont be able to pick all the instruements up even at home, because they will all be playing out of seperate amps

I lowered the price a little, because i realised i cant spend £50....

It would be a little difficult to get a good mic for that little money, I'd say you should wait until you can afford this:

http://www.amazon.com/Rode-Stereo-VideoMic-Camera-Microphone/dp/B007HYVMY0/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1438020481&sr=8-7&keywords=dslr+microphone&refinements=p_89%3ARode

It's one of the only non-directional mics I found.

Yes... I'm 12 and I know how parents are about expensive stuff like this...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Photographic-Microphone--Boya-Directional-Broadcast-Quality/dp/B00RF3EQ32/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1438021044&sr=8-3&keywords=dslr+mic

Under your budget and less 'directional' (you can tell from the shape) than the others. Hope this helps.

It feels like trying to find a new i5 for like a hundred bucks. Maybe you should wait for some offers or something... can you wait till Christmas? Places like B&H have good Christmas deals, at least I think so.

I think a tripod hole is good, as it is versatile, but make sure whatever you put in it fits ;)

Yes, and nothing for the next five years... seriously!
Except small things, like with my pocket money.

Personally, I think good glass is most important. Got a MF 50 1.8 and an incredible Samyang 35 1.4 that takes beautiful landscapes! As soon as I got the camera I learnt to use manual. Thank you, Tony Northrup!

When ever I go to workshops, like the light painting one I went to recently, there were adults asking me: "How to change aperture?" "How to change ISO?"
