should i upgrade my cpu?

Hy Guys! I have my budget Rig for a couple of months, and I find in some Games my frame rate jumping all over the place. 

 

Upgrading my CPU Will solve that ?

 

-Intel® Celeron® Cpu G1840 @ 2.80GHz

 

-ASUS R9 270X DCUII 

 

-4Gb Ram

 

-ASROCK H81M-DGS R2.0 

 

-Xilence XP500

a definate yes, Celerons are pretty infamous for being pretty slow CPU's, so an i3 would really help out things.

 

also going upto 8gb ram would help out too

In all seriousness, yes, that is probably causing your performance swings. As it's an LGA 1150 chip, you could upgrade to a Pentium or i3 with relatively little trouble. If you play older DX9 titles or lesser demanding games, I'd pick up a Pentium G3258 with an aftermarket air cooler like a CM Hyper 212 EVO (or similar). Then overclock it. You won't be able to push it as hard with an H-series board, but enough to make a difference.

If you play more AAA titles, I'd pick up an i3-4160. It'll cost about the same as the Pentium option, but now you don't have the aftermarket air cooler (which is always a great investment, I'd recommend an aftermarket cooler regardless of what CPU nayone uses). It can't be overclocked, so that's the negative side of going with an i3.

I'd also pick up another 4GB stick of RAM. Should all cost around £120, so not a massively expensive upgrade. Not sure what that is in $ as a straight currency conversion doesn't really apply.

Order an i5-4460 and another 4GB of RAM that matches the ones you already have and you'll be all set...next upgrade after that would be a much more powerful GPU but that's another story...you will get much better performance with a new CPU and more RAM.

If you do end up ordering the i5-4460 make sure you update your motherboard BIOS prior to getting rid of the celeron.

yeah right since he already own an haswell latest gen compatible motherboard and DDR3 RAM...an R9 270X...that's complete garbage...let's trash this system and start anew afterall we ALL know that an X99 motherboard...an i7-5960X, 64GB of DDR4 RAM and dual GTX 980ti is mendatory for gaming these days.

All he need is a new CPU and some extra RAM...everything else is perfectly fine...and if he go with a lower end core i5 model and can still decide to toss in a GTX 980 or R9 390X for example and a cheap ass 600W EVGA PSU or something and turn this into an high-end gaming machine.

you would have to explain to me why ''his board sucks''...it does support latest haswell core i5 CPU line and it does support 8GB of RAM...so as far as i'm concerned this motherboard support ALL he needs for playing latest AAA titles, and that on highest possible settings if he's willing to put a new graphics card in there. So why would you replace parts that are still considered (when it come to gaming) as top of the line performance parts?

I would sacrifice the two cheap low tier parts that would work with some higher tier hardware in favor of an upgraded system of the next generation.

The only thing that need replacement in this system is the weak ass CPU...good for him he already owns a CURRENT GEN HASWELL SOCKET 1150 MOTHERBOARD all he need is an intel core i5 or core i7 CPU to DIRECT DROP IN TO THIS BOARD AND VASTLY IMPROVE HIS EXPERIENCE!!

i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree...you're probably not working with the same kind of budget the OP has anyways that's probably why you would just scrap his build and start anew...not everybody is shitting cash these days you know.

My Goal is just to be able  to play Games at medium settings and a decent FPS.

NO, this will not work because your motherboard is socket 1150 and the i5-3570K CPU is socket 1155...you need to look at haswell based socket 1150 CPUs.

Just update your bios and get the i5-4460, or leave your BIOS alone and get the i5-4440.

3570k is ivy bridge. Lga 1155 socket not Haswell-friendly Lga 1150.

Nanosuits is dead on. 4440, 4460 or even an i3 is an excellent upgrade.

I did not expect that he had a 1150 since he has Celeron... x.x (if so get a damn 4460, 4690 or 4790!)
