what is it??? I don't recognize it at all?

I believe it to be the Blackmagic URSA cinema camera.

Also, I have to say that that's not a bad price for a camera of that caliber. Particularly when you consider that the FS700 Linus uses is around $8000.

Normandy - Intel Core i5 3470, 8 GB Corsair Vengenace LP, EVGA GTX 960 SSC, Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP, WD Blue 1 TB, Seagate 320 GB (steam), Seagate 320 GB (experimental, second OS, etc), Windows 8.1 + Ubuntu 14.10

Garrus - HP Stream 11

I don't know why someone will want such a camera unless they're content creators.

Did it came with two ladies on a red carpet? For this much it should. Please tell me it does 4K 60FPS raw :>

Is incredibly cheap for a camera of this calibre; so no ladies. Not even a battery, But yes, it does 4K RAW at 120FPS.

Blackmagic URSA.

My PC rig cost me much more and it's about to get a serious upgrade to handle it, is getting a quadro, an ultra wide monitor for editing and Dells new 24" 4K monitor for playback.

Nice camera you got there

What will you do with it?

At the moment it's a paperweight as I am awaiting memory cards from the U.S. Will use it for my own personal amusement, and I have a few ideas for Youtube channels, but I will primarily rent it out to my own company when we need to shoot commercials or whatnot.

I just built my editor last week on a Asus Z10PE D16 WS with a single E5v3 2660 2.6GHz 10 core and does real well for my simple 1080 editing. I was using a Quadro K2200 but the GTX980 has over 2,000 cuda cores ( I use premiere pro cc) I want to upgrade soon to the second processor and something in the $1,500 to $2,000 range for my next GPU or Tesla setup maybe I don't know I need to really check it out because my next camera will be something about half of what you just got. Thanks for sharing it was fun drooling over your specs Have Fun!!!

looks great but now you have a camera that will fill about every pro monitor out there but sounds like you have access to some higher end gear being in the business that's great you will need it those monitors are expensive!!!

Ridh, Your setup sounds pretty insane. I was contemplating dual CPUs but just too expensive here.

I have 5 monitors atm; my top one is mirrored to a TV across the room. They're all aimed at my personal enjoyment (3D) rather than professional work. Quadro is my first priority for the PC upgrade - mines not struggling with 4K editing even with only a 4930K; though I occasionally hit my 64GB RAM limit. Only reason I plan to upgrade my CPU is so I can upgrade my RAM.

Monitors won't be professional, just very high end consumer as true colour accuracy is wasted on me.

It's been a struggle :P

Am going to get a shoulder mount for it I think. Just from carrying it around today, I find the weight really manageable and the size to be ideal - I wouldn't want something smaller especially if it's windy. Was originally going to get a smaller rig for any run and gun projects

. It's an ergonomic dream, so long as footage and audio comes out okay, I'll be happy.

Why did you not get the mini if you planned to shoulder mount it? :D its a big heavy bugger to carry around :P

Mini doesn't appeal to me at all. Lacks high frame rates, the awesome audio monitors and I'm not sure I'd want anything smaller than the full size. Plus with the mini still using CFast, it's largely useless for all day shooting since you can't really swap the cards in and out while it's shoulder mounted and they don't yet come in capacities high enough yet so I'd have to use an external recorder. the mini is too small to be the A cam for the kind of studio work I want to do (90% of my work), too inefficient on a run and gun shoot and it's too big to use as a discrete B cam in studio.

The original plan (and still likely to happen) was to get this and then rig up a Micro Studio camera on a shoulder rig with a Shogun when I needed that and use that camera tucked away as a B cam when I wasn't doing run and gun stuff.

We shall see, this thing has to start earning it's place first :P

Thats fair enough, the micro studio cameras look awesome too so that could be a great idea :D

Agree for studio work the Ursa is fantastic as you can have the operator, focus puller and DP all there operating

Hope it works out for you :D, the URSA is absolutely amazing, but I think my eyes are on something else since I will be solo operating
