Well, I asked barnacules for some suggestions on twitter, still waiting to see if he recommends a decent starting camera.

Though he did suggest to use a camera with a good low light sensor, and get a few key and fill lamps, and also said that CFLs are fine.

For a mic he suggested either a shotgun mic or a lav mic that can connect to the camera audio input.

I'll reply again if he replies with a camera suggestion.

Could get something like what linus started off with used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001SER44W/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me= only $209 used or $650 new O.o

That's the most oddest thing with the prices O.o and thank you for keeping me in the loop

I would recommend something like this. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-NEX-5TL-Mirrorless-Digital-16-50mm/dp/B00ENZRP38/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1437973258&sr=1-1&keywords=sony+nex

Over budget by a bit, but if you can find a way to make that work, it is probably the best option there is in that price range. Nothing i would really recommend under that. Is a great platform to start with as it has allot of expandability because you can swap lenses. Adapters can be used and you can use many different legacy lenses that are great for video.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

I too would like to see something like this as a review. Make an actual video of some of the different cameras out there for the cost for new content creators like myself

Not a great idea tbh, cameras are too specific a thing to really cover and there are tons of places online to watch reviews of cameras

My first camera was a Sony NEXF3 so I'd say for 300 you should look for someone selling their NEX on the cheap and grab one of those. They are great for getting into it.

First thing to note is that the camera - in terms of image quality, at least - is probably the least important thing to consider. It's just one part of the ecosystem.

An iPhone (or shittier phone) will probably do a good enough job, or any other cheap camera. What you need to focus on more is lighting and audio. Make sure you can plug your microphone into your camera (or get an external recorder).
