Military Ship Owners Thread

ItsComrade

Hey guys. I was just wondering how many other people here have one of the military ships in Star Citizen.

I'm the proud owner of an F7C-M, but CCU it to a Gladiator for fun with a missile boat.

These are my absolute FAVORITE ships announced / flyable so far. What are your thoughts?

Help me I'm surrounded by morons.

Got to admit, when I read the title I thought you meant military ships like this.

Anvil Aerospace F8 Lightning all the way, though it is impossible to obtain one (legally) in game as they are UEE Military only. (EDIT: supposedly, these will be in Squadron 42 only, maybe not even the PU) It would be extremely overpowered if players would get their hands on one, though.

I mean, just look at it:

I think it looks dated compare to other ships, I love my Delta but wish I had a 325a purely for the paint job.

I don't really like the real military ships apart from the tracker that thing is cool but unsure how that's gonna fit in game

I have an actual military ship (one of the few), an F7A-M ;)

Sadly its not flyable yet so I can only use a F7C-M.

But those are decommissioned and de-militarised for the most part before made available to the public right? Or are those the F7C's we all know?

I can't imagine the UEE wanting civilians to be flying with milspec equipment.

The F7C is the civilian version that most people have while the F7A is the full military hull, it was made available a year or two ago for a weekend as a upgrade for veterans day as a (most likely) one off sale, it'll be attainable in game through back alley trading but for the moment the veterans day sale was the only way to get a hold of one. Still waiting to be able to apply the upgrade though because they haven't even shown the reworked F7A hull yet AFAIK... I assume it will be out for SQ42 at the latest though :)

The f7a is phased out with yhe recent commission of the f8 but not demelitarized. Likely will see them in the fleets still, but extras they don't need become available through black market or back door trading due to military connections.

I think that later point was mentioned by the devs on one of the site posts. The f7c is indeed demilitarized; however the super hornet is strange as it is demilitarized but has two seats and a jump drive standard. Just doesn't have full military grade arsenal.

Still new, but learning

The thing that annoys me is the military codenames they use A is *usually* the first ship, B a two seater and C is *usually* an upgrade A

But that's me splitting hairs but it annoys the hell out of me

LOL funnily enough I felt the same way when I first saw the designations :) Then again I suppose we don't really have special civilian variants of fighter jets, they just castrate them and leave the name the same IFAIK.

Yeah and I don't think the hornet is really based on anything? Seems very unique.

All I want them to do is a ship based on the A10 or Comanche/Apache.

The hull itself is also slightly different.

Wasn't the F7A sale just a re-skin for the Super Hornet and not the full version that the UEE uses? It's been a while since I saw that sale and passed on it.

I found the article, it's from 2013's Veteran Day, yes.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13366-Veterans-Day-Hornet-Upgrade-Offer

  • The F7A upgrade does not change the base stats of the Hornet. It does not activate additional hardpoints or engine capacity. There will be an impact from the change in fuselage, as the silhouette of the ship will be altered.
  • The F7A upgrade does not remove the second seat from users who have purchased a Super Hornet.

It doesn't change the load out but its not just a reskin its actually a different hull (similar to how the Aurora LN isn't just the standard Aurora hull). A different fuselage will mean even though the 'base stats' don't change it will affect your signature and handling, possibly other things as well.

Edit: Oh and extra armour too (possibly at the cost of speed).

Just expanding on the above comment. What doesn't change is the load out of what the original package was. Use of the phrase 'base stats' is sort of a misnomer, because if you mean ship speed, power plant and other statistics are based on equipment; which will remain from the prior package. What might change is said layout (positioning) of hardpoints and thrusters, and perhaps even number of available connections. As it relates to a 20 dollar upgrade, it could be fully cosmetic, or actually have some benefits/drawbacks or changes to what you are able to modify it with.

It may or may not come with the additional armory that the real f7a is supposed to have, as per specs sheet on the ship page. I doubt it will though.
