Project cars explodes before it could even start the race on WiiU

Bad news for Wii U owners that like their racing games with a little less koopa shells and a little more suspension tuning: Project CARS developer Slightly Mad Studios has abandoned the Wii U, and that platform's version of the crowdfunded racing simulator has been officially cancelled.

Writing to Nintendo Life, Slightly Mad studio head Ian Bell said, "The official line is that we're awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now [Project CARS] is simply too much for the Wii U." Nintendo Life reported back in May that Slightly Mad had struggled to get the game into playable shape on the system, as the game could only run at 720p and 23fps.

The good news, if there is any to be found here, is that Bell also told Nintendo Life in May that if the studio couldn't get Project CARS running on Wii U, they would shift focus to Nintendo's next hardware platform, which is currently known as the NX. In other words, the dream isn't dead - it's just been delayed. Again.

 

It baffles me that the devs would even attempt to try to release such a game on a Wii. lmao

 

BUT Nintendo fans will get Project Cars on Nintendo's next console, the "NX"

OT: Kinda sucks that the devs said it was working, but you know 720p 23FPS is unacceptable. Damn the Wii U is underpowered.

The games initial goal for release was PC PS3 xb360 and Wii U so it wasnt an unreasonable goal at the time.
