Question about an Acer laptop

 So a friend of mine has a laptop sporting an Intel Celeron B830 @ 1.8 GHz, 4 GB of DDR3(?) RAM and intel HD 3000.

She's been having some rather poor performance in very lightweight games such as LoL and GTA SA (not exactly light but still). Now, normally, I'd blame it on the rather weak hardware but the laptop in my sig has pretty similar perfromance CPU-wise (according to passmark) and the only realy difference is the GPU and the fact that hers hasn't been cleaned in some time. I am not entirely conviced that the older DDR2-based ATI 4250 can outperform intel's 3000 iGPU. I know intel are not as good at GPUs but still, it should be a closer match than what I am seeing (I'm able to run SC2 perfectly fine @ solid 30 fps).

My question, is there anything that she could really do besides cleaning it (I will be doing that shortly) or is it impossible to improve performance on it?

CCleaner rundown, quick virus scan, defragment of hard drives, etc ...

if you're doing a full clean, make sure to take the fan off the heatsink, between there is where most of the dust usually is.
