What kind of Camera do you use?

I was just browsing this section of the forum, and it got me curious about what types of cameras everyone is using.

Just to elaborate a bit on the different options:

Mirroless System: by this I mean any camera that is mirrorless and has interchangeable lenses like:
 -Sony A6000
 -Sony A7
 -Panasonic GH4
 -Panasonic GX8
 -Fuji X-T1
 -Olympus E-M1
 -etc

Mirroless : by this I mean any camera that is not an SLR and does not have interchangeable lenses like:
 -Any point and shoot Camera
 -Sony RX10
 -Sony RX100
 -etc

DSLR : by this I mean any camera that has a mirror. I'm including DSLR and SLTs in this category since they both have mirrors.
 -Canon Rebel
 -Canon 5D/6D/7D/70D/60D/50D/...etc
 -Nikon d3200/d5200/...etc
 -Sony A33/A55/A77/A99/A58

Cheers,

I have D3200 atm. If I bought a new one today I would probably still buy a body of a dslr. If I didn't have any lenses I would probably jump the boat on the mirrorless system cameras.

Currently I use my OnePlus One.
I would like to get a good camera, but they're mostly too expensive for what I would need it for. And as phones get better and better I don't see the point in getting a camera right now.

But I'd probably get a DSLR, cause it sounds cool. I don't know a lot about cameras :P

Good call, I never considered the lens factor. I'll likely be selling by bag of lenses to switch to mirrorless at the earliest opportunity haha.

I'm currently shooting Sony A-mount but I'll be switching to FE-Mount when I get enough money to buy a new camera

Pretty sure that would be a mirrorless without an interchangeable lens but I'm not 100% sure

There is a limit to how good phone cameras can get. DSLR cameras have massive sensors which makes them useable indoors and at night.

So you already know all the materials that we will find in the universe? Maybe it's possible to produce a camera which is as small as a finger nail that can take pictures that are better than everything we've seen so far.  ;)

Also I don't want to have the best pictures ever. I'm not into photography. I just want to take a picture to show something to friends or maybe for a forum or so. So a DSLR is completly pointless for me.

pretty much yea, most of the unknown ones don't last long enough to be in a camera sensor and it's not even about materials it's about how light works. You will not gather more light with a small sensor no matter what you make the sensor out of. Why do you think night animals have huge eyes.

What if the whole technologie changes and light suddenly doesn't matter anymore?

Or suddenly you can fire laser beams out of your eyes to take pictures.

Come on... Use your imagination.  ;)

no that won't happen. You can get IR images or laser images, but you will always need light to judge colours, which means light. You can probably get IR/laser assisted images for pitch black and stuff in phones someday, still not going to be as detailed, colour accurate pictures as a DSLR can produce.

Man, you're boring...  <_<

You see, a thousand years ago people were still dreaming to fly like a bird and they all said: "This will never be possible".

There is a difference though. Okay you get amazing tech and phones capture great images, DSLR type bigger cameras will capture even better ones again. Today and tomorrow however even probably for quite a while DSLR's will stay at the top.

It hasn't got a viewfinder(except on the screen obviously), so for professional photography it's not that good.  Lens selection is OK, but a bummer for me was that I can't get a speedbooster AFAIK.

Sensor is a very good one and videos are amazing too and I don't mind the slight cropping when taking UHD or 4K video BUT there is no 3.5mm jack for a mic so if you want better audio you will have to use an external recorder. Built in mic is good enough for normal stuff though.

If size, weight and money is not an issue, I'd go for the NX1, but for the money this is a great little camera.

On board camera audio is shit anyway, so something like a zoom h1 makes a much better option for audio recording anyway

I used to use Canon 1000D (over 5 years old DSLR) with only a kit lens, and the glorious plastic fantastic (EF 50mm f/1.8 II) for around a year.

Around March / April I switched to Sony RX100 (bought second-handed, had half a year of use and shutter count of ~5000 before I acquired it), and I have been pretty satisfied with it. Though for my low-light needs it's barely enough, but the only thing I really find lacking from it, is weather resistance. So many times would I have used cameras in rain, but I can't exactly afford breaking them by exposing them to even mild rain.

Wish more cameras had decent enough weather resistance (and by "decent" I mean should be able to take really heavy rain for more than an hour).

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.
