Intel i5 4690K Overclocking to 4.5GHz with a Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212X

Can the air cooler adequately chill the CPU in my tropical country? Our summers hit a 40C! 

I want to keep my CPU overclocked to 4.5GHz or even 4.3GHz (Granted, I get lucky with the CPU!). I intend to use my setup for heavy gaming and photography processing.

For those interested, my build is:

  • Intel i5 4690k 
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212X Evo 
  • Gigabyte GA-Z79X Gaming 5 (
  • 2 x G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory 
  • Boot Disk: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5” SSD 
  • Storage Disk: 2 x WD Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5” 7200RPM 
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB Windforce Video Card 
  • Fractal Design Define R4 (Titanium) ATX Mid Tower Case
  • SeaSonic M12II-750 EVO 80Plus Bronze Fully Modular 

My alternative to the Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212X is the Corsair Hydro Series (maybe the H80i). However, they are three times more expensive than the air cooler. 

 

It seems you haven't even overclocked your CPU yet and so there's no guarantee you'll hit 4.5 with reasonable voltages. The temps will really depend on how much voltage you need to put into your CPU to get 4.5 ghz. The 212 EVO is amazing bang for the buck and should get you a decent overclock even with your high ambient temps.

Ah, yes. Apologies for not properly indicating that I am at the planning stage of my first rig. Alright, thank you! I'll add more fans to the case down the line to improve cooling overall as well.  :)
