Witcher 3

blueballs

Hey guys, I wonder what you think of witcher 3?

after an hour or so of gameplay my opinion is very similar to that guy:

what about you...

Played it for a few hours on (my friend's) PS4.

Game was fun, combat was decent but a bit flat. Game actually looked pretty good (apart from poor textures sometimes, 30fps and fps drops, but hey.. It's PS4).

Overall very nice, but I don't think it's Skyrim expansive

It's a slower game in my opinion. Im taking my time to do everything I can to get a full experience (because thats my preference) and Ive found that it sacrafices constant action for a prolonged expereince which im ok with. once you get out of the first little area (white orchard) it really becomes open world and things pick up. give it 6+ hours to conclude an opinion.

I'm don't have time to watch a 16 minute video but the game is great.  It looks fantastic, plays well, story is amazing, the only problem is I get distracted playing Gwent all the time.

Got it as a gift. Most (if not all) issues excused. 11/10 would play again.

The comments on the combat are pretty stupid: This is actually fairly involved, seriously combat is different but how can this idiot compare it to Skyrim where literally nothing fucking mattered just attack until they die.

Is the guy from the video handicapped? I had no issues whatsoever playing with KB/M. I do have 10 working fingers and a brain though, so I suppose I'm at an advantage.

Also, he compared the combat to skyrim, this guy doesn't even know what he's talking about.

10/10 would play game again

0/10 biased review.

I absolutely loved it. Coming from witcher 2, it was a more and expanded lore than it's predecesor. The story is extremely dull at first but it begins to ramp up. My favorite part is that it is so different from any open world game that I have ever played, where exploring the map has it's own little things to see other than just the same bandit camps.

The fact that it is such a beautiful world, you just want to spend all your time exploring it when you have downtime.

There so many varied activities to do and the sidequests always freshen it up with something new. I also absolutely love the combat, involving both range and melee combat is tons of fun. I personally went with a swordsman combat tree and I am just wrecking fools with potions (which you can finally drink in combat unlike the second game). My only disappointment is that some of the models look really bad in the cutscenes and so do some textures. That and the highest difficulty (death march) is nothing compared to even the second highest difficulty in witcher 2 (maybe because I'm more experienced now?), also so far isn't nearly as interesting as the 2nd.

It's an amazing game that makes me question every minute I've ever spent in any other open-world RPG. One of the best games of any genre that I've played in years.

I've played close to 100 hours already. already wrapped up the main story but i still have quests to do. bear in mind that i played witcher 2 prior

as for the video i agree that often the controls are pretty clunky (died so many times trying to descend ledges...). but i suddenly got used to it and honestly it didn't irritate me as much as that guy in the video. funny enough cd red is preparing to release patch 1.07 and one of the fixes include an alternative movement for geralt, which i assume to be faster and more responsive, plus fixes to the inventory and a bunch of other things. seriously cd red knows their community and to push out fixes and even free dlc every week they're at least doing something right, and i commend them considering the fiasco with arkham knight. if they have a donate option I would donate without hesitation

i think everyone who's playing this game should go for broken bones or death march difficulty. its much more enjoyable that way. any lower than that and it's too easy, unless you want to rush. but why rush this beautiful game? though i have to admit that once you reach higher levels it becomes a little too easy since the game doesn't scale awfully well. but i still come across enemies that are pretty difficult to handle, especially in hordes.

as for graphics it should have looked exactly like their earlier trailers but it's still a beautiful game. there were some textures that were pretty gnarly but this game is pretty huge so i'm not complaining. i'm still struck with awe every time i walk through novigrad. they really made this city lively.

and i don't understand why that youtuber's complaining about the loading. i mean, there are no loading screens when you enter any interior space, which is quite something since a lot of interiors in this game are pretty detailed and whatnot. considering that fact of course it needs to load when you fast-travel to skellige or velen. because apart from fast-traveling to sign posts there's minimal loading. though i'm seeing problems with level of detail and hopefully cd red is aware of it.

as for the quests they're very, very good. they're not run-of-the-mill or generic. sure some of them kinda are but the majority of them are engaging and i enjoy doing every single one of them. especially the bloody baron's questline. absolutely magnificent example there. there are a couple of quests that i'm disappointed about but i won't name them.

if you ask me if it's worth the 60 bucks, i would say yes without a doubt. i am a little biased i admit since i've played witcher 2 and i really liked that game but witcher 3 by itself it's worth the full retail price. heck i wouldn't buy it on sale - just buy it full price. sure this game has its flaws but every game does. honestly the pros far outweigh the cons here. once the modkit comes out i think most of the issues would be ironed out

It's not that it's so much varied or more beautiful than other open world games, it's the fact that they've given almost everything in the game "life". You find the same bandit camp many times, but there's usually a little unique backstory to each of them. It's not a world that revolves around you, it's fairly realistic in that sense. It wouldn't be nearly as fun to explore if it was all about you.

Not disagreeing with you, it is beautiful and awesome, but I think it's the amount of detail put in to their world and how you interact with it deserves most praise.

I'm telling the truth! I AM a 12 year old girl!

wow 1.07 seems to be a great patch. Inventory was probably my biggest con of this game as it was clearly designed for a console and gets really cluttered. I can't complete a quest because I can't find the letter in my inventory :I

I don't get the complaints at all. What is he talking about dodge going to random places? I played it with keyboard and dodging and rolling away works fine, both pretty much 360 you just have to combine camera angle and WASD.

In vanilla Skyrim was there actually anything more to melee than block (if you had a shield) and spamming attack?

I just finished my first playthrough yesterday after playing 110hrs. There were a few bugs here and there and the controls are a bit clumsy but I atleast quickly got used to them. Personally I consider the game probably one of the best I've ever played. The first two Witcher games were good, but this one takes the series to a completely new level.

I think it's the best game I have ever played. Seriously. I'm considering doing a Witcher themed upgrade to my PC whenever I get around to it.

Some random youtuber with no knowledge of the Witcher lore has negative remarks and people supposed to take it as gospel?

I mean he couldn't even get the early story right. Ciri is not the niece of "one of Geralt's witcher buddy's". That "youtuber's" attention span didn't last past the prologue. In, the prologue, Ciri greets "Uncle Vesemir" and that's when this guy retired his brain cells, less than 10% into the game. Here is a review from someone that actually played the game before forming his opinion:

This is LTT. One cannot force "style over substance" values & agenda on people that actually aren't afraid to pop the lid off their electronic devices, which happens to be the most common denominator of this community. Rather than take shots at this community in every post, why not seek out like-minded individuals elsewhere?

7/10...Pretty let down after the hype.

It's a good game but fell flat if you believed any of the marketing.

The story is about 50 hours and there is about 150 hours of content but only because they make you travel so much.

At level 25 and beyond...combat is pointless if you kept up on your sign upgrades.

You won't even have to participate in the fights to win.lol...

I'm sorry, but 150 hours of content is simply not correct. I haven't covered even half of the question marks and I'm at 100+ hours.

Edit: and Angry Joe does a pretty good review on this one I think.

I have covered ALL the question marks...guarded treasures...hidden entrances....there is nothing left on the map for me to open.

I have a few quests left to do but they don't take long.

I haven't even gone over 100 hours yet.

Even the game developers have said it should average about 150 hours for 100% completion...sometimes more and often less.

I used to have a Dark Souls addiction but then I took a witcher to the knee.

Seriously, this is the best RPG I've played since Dark Souls. In fact, probably the best RPG I've played in well over a decade.

This game made me feel something that I haven't felt since I played Streets Of Rage for the first time on my Megadrive. It reminded me of how good video games can be.
