Cabling question

Guest Console Peasant

So i love pc hardware but when im building a pc i hate dealing with cables, i want there to be as little cables exposed as possible. and i just havent cable a lot of things

How and where does the front panel plug in? I know its the bottom of the mobo, but where do you route the cables? Is there a hole below them usually? If not then what?

When adding additional fans, how do you route them onto the motherboard? Im using a Z97S from MSI, and a Define S, i'll have to check my fan connectors, but what if i didnt have one to plug in? How would I route it to the power supply? Especially for front mounted fans etc. That's about all but i always come up with random shit to ask

if you have a good case you mount the cables behind the motherboard tray

if you don't you gotta get creative with zip ties

If you need remote help fixing something on your computer

I can help over Teamviewer if you wish

if you look at the case....you can see where you can run cables

its not really hard if you take 2 mins to plan your cable management

It'll depend on the case and the motherboard whether there will be an opening in the motherboard tray next to the front IO headers. With pretty much every motherboard the headers for the power and drive LEDs and the power and reset buttons will be at the bottom right of the board, but where the USB 2.0 and 3.0 headers are located will rather depend on the motherboard. I've personally got my USB 2.0 headers at the bottom of the board and my USB 3.0 header on the right hand side of the board, above the SATA headers, and I've got cable openings directly next to all those places. Then again, I've got a completely different motherboard and case than you have, so there's no saying whether the same will be true for you.

Regardless though, you'll probably never have to let a cable go more than 5cm in front of the motherboard tray with a good quality case like the Define S, because it'll have plenty of cable openings.
