audio crackling

Dylan94

Hi everyone! I'm super new here! I've been looking a lot of linus video and I think I learnt a lot from him!

Lately I started having some problem with the audio of my Lenovo y50 70 : the sound starts randomly crackling while playing youtube videos or any streaming videos. It's TOTALLY random cause when I pass over the same point twice the crackling is gone but it does it again on other point of the video... The problem is still persistent when I plug in my headphone.... sometime I have the same problem even with downloaded videos... I've noticed that when I use "download mode" the noise shows less time than when I use the "elevated specs mode"...

Looking at the video linus did about sound card.... can it be that the sound is not working very well for electricity interference inside the motherboard?

thaaank you very much for your help!!! :D

Turn up the sound of your system and turn down the sound on the headset/Speaker itself, should make it better.

could be interference or just a bad audio card. I've seen that often on Lenovos

thanks to both! but it's the first time I have seen it! and also a friend of mine has the same laptop and we bought it the same day but he doesn't have this problem!... Do I have to think about a hardware problem or only software?

Have you tried it on just a set of speakers? Headphone wires are so easy to damage and are notorious for creating scratchy static noises. Especially on a random basis.

Did I help you to fix your problem or at least did offer somewhat valuable advice? Consider giving my post a "informative" or "thumbs up".

Download DPCLatency checker, run it in the background while you do your normal stuff and once it happens again, check it.
If it's a DPC issue, it will show on the program.

it displays this message:

Some device drivers on this machine behave bad and will probably cause drop-outs in real-time audio and/or video streams. To isolate the misbehaving driver use Device Manager and disable/re-enable various devices, one at a time. Try network and W-LAN adapters, modems, internal sound devices, USB host controllers, etc.

but I cannot find which driver it is!

I always have the lenovo software displaying a update of w-lan drivers so I thought it was that... but every time I update it , it displays it again....

Okay, start the system in safe mode with networking, and try the tool again.

We can attempt to find out if it's the pre loaded software, or a driver causing the issue.

I'm right now in safe mode but the audio doesn't start and also the tool doesn't start . The tool gives me back this error: InstallDrv: StartService failed with error 0x0000043C . for the audio it says "one or more audio services are not in execution" not solved

EDIT: also with my headphone I cannot hear music

I have the same problem and im pretty sure its because I cracked a USB port back in the day by accidentally stepping on a cable. Try taking your headphones of the back of the PC and connecting it to a front port if available, that fixes the problem, a restart works too usually.

They say you are what you eat, but I dont remember eating a legend.

well actually it's not only a problem of headphone it's a general issue... lately has been a bit disappearing (or maybe I got used to it! *sad*  ) .... anyway I cannot plug the headphone in another port cause I have a laptop.... and the problem is persistant so a restart doesn't fix it ... but thank you

I had the same problem and this morning was even worse than usual. I was a little desperate to find a solution because I can't afford to buy a new laptop right now. I decided to run a few test with my anti-virus system and it told me that I had some updates that i had to do. I did them and I restarded my computer and now it works fine. I have no problems with my audio at all. I don't know if this can help you at all, but it worked for me.. so why not share it! Anyway I hope you can fix your computer
