dc 7900 wont accept 2 gpus

so,

I have just started folding, and I can get a PPD of 2000, and so I tried adding another gpu (8400gs) to my system for more power. My dc 7900 would not let the pc boot (it did post). does anyone have any suggestions?

also, how good is 2000 PPD?

My rig: r7 1700 @ 3.9/1.35v, 16gb ddr4 3200, assorted rando SSDs, hx 1050, vega 64 1650/1025

You need SLI, which the card and the computer don't support

SLI is only used for gaming.

if you want to run 2 nvida cards it must be at least 16x/8x

What do you mean by "It will POST but it doesn't let the PC boot"? Does it throw up an error or what?

Also, is this the CMT or SFF model?

pc specs: 4 function calculator / 8 digit lcd display / colored numeric and function buttons

yes. it posts and the throws an error. it says check or update bios and the tries to "repair windows" and it gets stuck in an endless windows 8.1 booting screen

I bought the pc for $20. I bought it a gt 610 for $48 and it works fine on its own. I want to add the other card just to help with my PPD on Folding@home

just reinstall windows, easiest method probably

the error code, if it helps is amt error 2232

you don't really need to worry about that, amt is just out-of-band management (this is a business-class machine)
