Gaming Build need CPU

I am planning on building a £500 (GBP) gaming PC and have always been a bit of a Intel fan boy, I was planning on going with a 4 core i5 processor without recalling looking at the AMD side, would I be better off going with a cheaper AMD cpu with more cores? Any advice or experiences using AMD V Intel would be great

Naw stick with Intel. If you are on  a budget. Get a high-grade i3. AMD has nothing to offer on the plate anymore except APU's which are really good for extreme budgets.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

AMD CPU's don't have more cores, they have 4 modules with the integer cores (ALU) split in 2 to give the appearance of more cores. Its AMD trying to con people with technically true marketing.

Yes, AMD has more cores for cheaper, but Intel has a better upgrade path. You could go from a Pentium to an i3 to an i5 to an i7. With AMD, you could get an FX 8350 and you're trapped until you switch to Intel (AMD has been shitting on their CPUs recently). Of course, it depends on what you're doing (Gaming, rendering, streaming, etc.)

Amd doesn't really have good options atm but you can always go with AMD if you really want but I wouldn't do it.

Intel, it leaves a better upgrade path.

For a budget gaming PC I'd recommend going with something such as an i3 that way you're not eating up too much of your budget, though if you can fit an i5 in there then definitely go for it.

You can easily switch to an i5 or upgrade to a 280X without breaking the budget but this will get you started.

You can get Windows 10 through the Insider Program or buy an 8.1 key off the software swap on reddit for super cheap.
