New Rig, Suggestions or tips?

Currently figuring out what components I am going to buy, will need to run VR and 4K smoothly. Do you guys have any advice or tips on what to buy and what not?

Was thinking about this:

Intel Core i7-5820K Boxed

MSI X99S SLI PLUS

  2000619062.jpeg

Asus GTX980TI-6GD5

Corsair Obsidian 450D

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

  1379426433.jpeg

Crucial Ballistix Tactical BLT2CP8G3D1608DT1TX0CEU

2000548933.jpeg

Seasonic Platinum Series 1000 Watt

1374111403.jpeg

2x

Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Might switch the cooling to water cooling, and change the memory to something else.

All tips are very welcome! thanks in advance

Lol I know the 212 evo is great and all but with a boss CPU I would not use it. Get something like an AIO

Why 2 SSDs? Just get one 500GB SSD for OS, games, and programs if you need that much space, and get a giant HDD for storing stuff that isn't programs (docs and all that crap).

Git Gud.

I had that at first within the list, 1 ssd and a 3tb HDD. I'll change it back to that! Thanks What kind of SSD would you recommend then?

My only real recommendation would be to change the cpu cooler. That chip deserves to be on a liquid cooled system.

For just the rig about €2000. And then I also need to find a good 4k monitor, which I hope to find for around €500,- Like the ASUS monitor for instance.

Sorry about that, and thanks! Yeah, I guess you're right. But I don't have any experience with liquid cooled systems. Seems risky

I use www.tweakers.net, but if you list your recommended products on any website you prefer, I could find them myself after. Thanks man :D

I would suggest getting a Z97 system instead of a X99 system as it doesn't help in gaming (unless you are looking into doing a lot of video editing). Get a core i5 4690K (still can handle a 980ti) or even a i7 4690K if you do a lot of video editing. Get a Z97 board that supports SLI like the Z97S krait edition or A gigabyte GA-Z97X.

Also your power supply is overkill, a 850W power supply can even handle a 980ti SLI.

Lastly get a 3TB hard drive and one SSD instead of the duel SSD

See if you can afford two 980ti as well for SLI through the power supply, motherboard and processor savings.

an X99 rig is still better overall than a Z97 rig, I agree with the PSU, get an 850W one and the rest

also I would highly suggets getting an AiO, because you're going with an overall beefy rig, might as well get a slightly better AiO

Liquid cooling is pretty low-risk when you buy the pre-made radiators and loops. The temps difference can definitely make liquid cooling worth considering. Doing a custom loop takes some skill but it can be worth it.

I installed an H100i on my first build and it wasn't too hard. Really only the connectors are kinda confusing, but mounting the radiator and the block is super easy.

Unless you're really careless and you beat up on it, you shouldn't have to worry about whether or not the loop is going to break.

Thanks for the tip and I agree, would you say that the Corsair H110 would be a good fit? Or would you go with something else?

I checked to see if I could go with a Z97 setup with 980ti SLI, but thats going to be a bit to expensive I'm afraid, and it seems that the X99 setup could be a more long term thing than the already older Z97 systems, right?

Yeah, X99 uses the 2011-v3 socket which uses beast CPUs, but the Z97 isn't falling behind anytime soon tho

for the AiO I would suggest getting the h100i gtx from corsair

If you do processor intensive tasks yes. But even a i5 4690K would usually perfom in way better value for money in games and most games still relie on a good GPU (expections are there of course).
