Amazon.com holding 20-year anniversary sale

At 00:00 PST (GMT -08:00), on July 15, in honor of the 20th anniversary of Amazon.com's existence, the e-commerce retailer will be holding a one-day sale called Prime Day. The event is exclusive to Amazon Prime members, although Amazon.com offers a 30-day free trial that it says will still allow newcomers to participate in Prime day.

 

Prime Day is a global shopping event, offering more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members. On Wednesday, July 15 new and existing members will be able to shop thousands of Lightning Deals, Deals of the Day, and will receive unlimited Free Two-Day Shipping. Members will find deals starting at midnight PST, with new deals starting throughout the day, as often as every ten minutes. Not a Prime member? Try Prime today and get immediate access to deals on July 15.

 

The event will feature deals in all categories, and the company has been working with it's retailers to bring the pricing down to levels associated with Black Friday.

 

Prime members can find deals on products across categories including electronics, toys, video games, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, sports and outdoor items and more. Members will enjoy deals on items perfect for summer adventures, their to-do list, family road trips, back to school supplies, and everyday essentials. Prime members can shop on any device, including smartphones and tablets and enjoy deals anytime, and anywhere.

 

"Prime Day is a one-day only event filled with more deals than Black Friday, exclusively for Prime members around the globe. Members tell us every day how much they love Prime and we will keep making it better," said Greg Greeley, Vice President Amazon Prime. "If you're not already a Prime member, you'll want to join so you don't miss out on one of the biggest deals extravaganzas in the world."

 

The event serves as a way of generating sales, but also serves as a way to test it's Fulfillment infrastructure, which has expanded significantly in recent years with the acquisition and subsequent deployment of it's Kiva warehouses, as well as the investment in drone technology and robotic pickers and the hiring of large numbers of workers during the shopping season.

 

Amazon.com Inc., which faces its single biggest day of online shopping on [Cyber Monday], has invested heavily this year in upgrading and expanding its distribution network, adding new technology, opening more shipping centers and hiring 80,000 seasonal workers to meet the coming onslaught of holiday orders. Amazon says it processed orders for 36.8 million items on the Monday after Thanksgiving last year, and it’s expecting “Cyber Monday” to be even busier this year.

Yeah sounds great and all... If you're a prime member. Otherwise you're stuck trying the trial, where they'll charge you if you forget to cancel the subscription before it ends. ._.

Yeah sounds great and all... If you're a prime member. Otherwise you're stuck trying the trial, where they'll charge you if you forget to cancel the subscription before it ends. ._.

 

That's why you go into your account settings and tell it not to renew Amazon Prime once the trial period is up. You can do that right after starting the trial - no need to wait until the end.

Looking forward to stocking up on high speed CF cards and HDDs more than anything.

Hoping some 4 or 8 bay Synologys are discounted if possible, 2 bay doesn't cut it anymore.

thanks dude, I probably never would've seen that.  I saw an option to have an email sent a day or two before they renew. I still probably would've got hit for something I may or may not use
