$1700~ PC Build

I have made a topic about three months ago but for some reason the PC build was postponed..  this was what was suggested to me..

Okay, I've got the BB code, so it should just show up I guess...

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($529.00 @ CPL Online)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($159.00 @ CPL Online)
Motherboard: MSI X99S SLI Plus ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($338.00 @ IJK)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card  ($819.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($158.50 @ Centre Com)

Total: $1551.40

Probably prices has changed a little bit, and I changed my mind towards a few things...

For the GPU & CPU : I'm not sure what to choose yet, I'm a 3D Graphics designer... I need a very good CPU.. that's a priority, but still I want a good GPU because I'd be gaming

so those are two combinations that i'm thinking of either getting a 5930K and a GTX 970 or getting a 5820K and a GTX 980...

I am not seeing a lot of improvement to get a GTX 980 instead of a GTX 970.. and it's 200$ more in term of its price...

Though i'm not sure if that 0.5gb vram crap would really affect the performance or not...

NOTE : I don't want any AMD components...they don't work well with the softwares I use.....

CPU Cooler : I think the "Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler" is a pretty good choice, any other recommendations ?

Motherboard : The "MSI X99S SLI Plus ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard" is a bit on the pricy side though for a motherboard I think or is it normal !

Memory : I think the "Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory" is a pretty good choice, any other recommendations ?

Storage : I think they're pretty good as well, other recommendations?

 Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Case : the NZXT H440 was suggested one.. but I really like the look of the NZXT Phantom 240... should i get it ? is it good, cable management, air flow and stuff ?

Power Supply : the suggested psu isn't available in my country, other recommendations ?

Thanks in advance..

This looks solid ^_^

As for your CPU/GPU question, I would stick with the 5820K and 980. According to most, the difference between the 5820K and 5930K isnt worth the bump in price.

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

go to jonnyguru.com for the psu choice. Other than that, solid build.

i have built in both of those cases, the one i perfer is the h440 because its quieter and i like the looks of it. The phantom 240 is cheaper but i found that the cable management space in the back wasn't that big ( i had a lot of stuff in that build so that was probably why)

Oh, I rechecked their specs... I though the 5930k had 8 cores, Nope.. It also 6 cores... the only 8 core out there is the 5960x and that's just extremely expensive... okay.. I will surely just be sticking with the 5820k...

so what model of a GTX 980 should i get ?!

Quieter !! Sure ?

Okay, then i'll be sticking with the h440

Any comments on the motherboard ?!

h100i gtx instead for your cooler

according to my search, the psu is available:

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

it's also rated by jonny guru:

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=380

get the 5820k, overclock it, and get the gtx 980

this mobo is also good and it's cheaper:

MSI X99S MPOWER

yes, that's what you'll have to get for x99. it's just what it costs

get a 120gb ssd and more storage for your hdd. hybrid hdd are good too. just throw your os on the ssd and some programs.

get the cheapest compatible ram you can get

any monitor that is 144 hertz with 1ms will have shitty colors. ips monitors are for graphics work. gaming requires 144 hertz and 1ms with gsync = the best. buy 1 ips for your work and 1 gaming monitor instead

i don't see how you can get any cheaper than the above with what you want. i looked for the best prices in aus dollars.

you need a 2tb hdd if you plan on gaming. you'll run out of space quick with 1tb and it's not that much more expensive

The prices are not accurate.. the 5820k is around 350$ and the gtx 980 is around 550$

that's why you weren't able to fit everything in the budget...

Is this in Australian dollars cause that would translate to roughly about 1750 usd.. which perfectly fits the budget

concerning the storage space.. I do have an external usb 3.0 1TB device, where I store all my games... so I do think 1Tb would be enough for now..

Anyway, I can't find the Asus GTX  980 anywhere here, I'll probably go with the MSI one...

Don't buy a Kingston V300 SSD as they are really bad. Try and get a Samsung 850 EVO or Crucial BX100/MX100.
