MIC not working on Asus Maximus Hero VII

jhill1818

First things first, here are my specs:

i7 4790K @ 4.0 GHz

Corsair H100i Cooler

Asus Maximus Hero VII

Corsair Vengeance 16 GB @ 1866 MHz

EVGA G2 Supernova 850 Watt

TP-Link WDN4800 Wifi Card

MSI Twin Frozr GTX 970

Samsung Evo 850 500 GB

Corsair 450D

I logged on to Skype to make a call to my brother but he could not hear me. I am using just generic headphones with a built in microphone (much like Apple earbuds). The mic works fine if I plug it into my Macbook Pro but will not work when I plug it into my pc. It is a freshly built PC, just finished it yesterday. Can't seem to figure out the problem. Installed Asus on board audio drivers and that did not do anything. The mic is recognized by the computer but it just does not read any sound.

It's because the plug on your headphones is 3-prong, but your PC connector is separated to input/output. You'll need one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/SF-Cable-Female-Stereo-Splitter/dp/B0016LDZ36

|  Athlon 750K   |   EVGA GTX 750 Ti FTW  |  Acer Aspire E15 - i5 6200u, 940M  |

|  Sennheiser HD 518   |   FiiO E10K DAC and Amp  |

Moto G (1st Gen)
