BentoChip makes FAT PS3 able to play WII U games!

AC-3

A group have made a chip called the BentoChip that makes the FAT PS3 able to play WII U games on it. The guys behind the chip obviously goes silent with the doors since both Sony and Nintendo doesn't want this.

The reason for this may work is that in the older PS3 firmwares have many references to CafeOS which is the OS the Wii U use. This may reveal Nintendo and Sony worked together again on the PS3. But they stopped right before release which is the reason all the hardware making it compatible with Wii U games. Nintendo knew this and changed the way data is stored on the Wii U discs. This chip is supposed to make the Blu-Ray disc reader able to read Wii U games. Since all the hardware is there, this could be possible. (This update were written on mobile, sorry for possible bad written text).

Some people have asked how to control the games, well as far as I know they will try and mod support for it later  :)

I will update once I find more. :)

This guys demonstrate installing the chip and playing a WII U game on the PS3. (The guy speaks danish and is a very well known nerdy danish youtuber.)

What do you guy's think? Possible?

that's pretty interesting, I mean.. I have heard many people say the Wii U is just a bit higher end than the PS3..

Remember the thread here a few days ago, about finding the original Sony PlayStation, that played SNES games? Well apparently Sony and Nintendo worked on the PS3 together as well, as the old PS3 had CafeOS mentions in it  (Nintendo's OS). By installing the Bento chip into the blu ray drive, so it can understand WiiU game discs, the entire PS3 can natively run WiiU games it seems (although no gameplay was shown).

It is not. Similar to the xbox 360. Which is less powerful than ps3

something smells wrong here, there is no actual gameplay or confirmation that DVD in fact works in a wii u

What the heck are you saying?

It was a prototype of an SNES expansion, which Sony and Nintendo made together. It was able to play SNES cartridges and CD Rom games (which Sony would get all the profit from), that is part of the reason why it didn't go through.

After that Sony made the Playstation. And not sure what you mean by the rest

It is not. Similar to the xbox 360. Which is less powerful than ps3

Well, arguably the 360 performed better in games often because the PS3 was so hard to program for. So maybe that is what they meant by the Wii U being slightly better than the PS3.

There's no point in this argument, 360 had a stronger gpu, and PS3s CPU and RAM were harder to work with

I had no issue running a Wii emulator on a Pentium Dick machine...

The wii came out 9 years ago, and there is finally a decent emulator.

Hm, I dunno, I have my doubts about this... There's a few things that could make this video a fake:

1) Nintendo uses a proprietary disc format that only their consoles can use, therefore, the PS3 wouldn't be able to read a WiiU game.

2) The Cell processor in the PS3 is very powerful, so I don't doubt that (powerwise) the PS3 could run WiiU games, but there's the issue of RAM. The PS3 only has 256MB of system RAM and another 256MB for video RAM. The WiiU has 2GB of RAM. I'm sure a game like Smash would use most, if not all, of the RAM in the WiiU.

3) Going back to the Cell processor, do you even know how difficult it is to code for that thing? Some software fiddling would definitely be in place for it to run a game that was made for a completely different CPU architecture.

4) What about drivers? Even if this could work, it wouldn't be as simple as plug 'n play. There would have to be some sort of software fiddling to get Smash Bros. (for example, since it was used in the video) to recognize and accept inputs from a PS3 controller.

5) Going back to drivers, there's also the issue that the PS3 uses an NVIDIA based GPU whereas the WiiU uses an AMD based GPU. Again, software fiddling would be required.

I could probably come up with more stuff if I thought about it more, but this video is plagued with flaws that are not explained.
