Do you have an overall budget? Are you willing to increase your current budget?

i would change the mobo for something cheaper and the processor for something better, also get a graphics card if you plan on gaming

get an i5 or i3 if you're low on budget and if you can get a gtx 970 since its the best card for price/performance ratings.

so why only 8gb RAM and not 16gb?

You dont need 16 for gaming. I have 16GB and only use it in VMs.

Theres also a tutorial on how to build it, although some parts are different such as the cpu, motherboard, they should all fit in the same. Dont bother with a cpu cooler, you cant overclock this processor. I doubt you will want to and this processor is miles above your pentium.

If you are just picking the OS to be upgraded to 10 later, sites like G2A.com have some amazing prices for Windows 8.1

basically find an iso online to install it and the key you buy to activate

just checked G2A and you can buy a key for less than $25

ssd for os storage is a must. z97 board is a must; more features. 380 is a good card at this price point and budget beats the 960. psu is highly rated by jonny guru. 2tb storage is a must. 16gb of ram is a must

with the z97 board, you can easily upgrade to a i5-4590 or a 4690k in the future. don't get anything less than a z97 board. the i3 above has hyper threading.

alternatively, you could spend a bit more for a 4 core cpu:
