Can Somebody Explain to Me which CPU and/or which Motherboard to get?

I'm currently deciding which Motherboard to get for my PC and at the same time am deciding between getting an Intel core i5 4690 or an intel core i5 4460. I'M NOT OVER CLOCKING ANY OF MY EQUIPMENT < please take this into account. The parts that I have chosen so far are as follows:

GPU:  EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 SSC ACX Cooling 2.0 4 GB Graphics Card.

RAM: HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - Blue.

SSD: Samsung 2.5-Inch 120 GB 850 EVO Solid State Drive.  <<< FOR OS/WINDOWS.

STORAGE/HDD: WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue. (Yes 1TB is enough for me :) )

OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (Full Version).

PSU: EVGA Supernova 550 W Gs Gold 80+ Modular Power Supply Unit.

CASE: Corsair CC-9011058-WW Carbide Series SPEC-03 Windowed Mid Tower ATX Gaming Case with LED Fan - Black/Blue.

OPTICAL DRIVE: Samsung 24x Retail SATA DVD Writer.

The motherboard would have to support these components, either the Intel core i5 4690/4460 and I would like it to have SLI. As for the CPU either the i5 4690 or the i5 4460, I would prefer the i5 4690 as it has more Ghz, but then again this is my first build, and I'm not to knowledgeable with computers. Remember I'm not overclocking anything. So could you please tell me what I need! (I'm aiming for 1080p-1440p @ 60fps on nearly maxed out settngs with my build)  :)

What's your entire budget for everything?

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

4460, at this spot more GHz is not much performance. It'd have to be a pretty big increase such as 1 GHz for a noticeable difference. And do you have the monitor yet since you said 1080p or 1440p?

Probably the 4460 or the 4690. Or if you are really fancy, 4690K

You may also want more than a 1tb storage drive. I have a 2tb in my rig and I'm about halfway through it from december.

i3-4370 or i5-4460 are good but not sure what mobo you have or want. Also OC or none?

If OC then get a K model such as i5-4690K! :D

Hey Facetious,

I'd look for comparisons and benchmarks between the two CPUs and see what would be the better choice for your personal needs. Since you are not OCing the CPU I'd go for a H-type motherboard (87 or 97, depends on which CPU you'd choose).
I really like the storage solution. :)

. Thanks man! :) I actually decided to opt for the MSI z97 Gaming 5! I know it has more than I need but it will leave me with more room in the future if I want to get a second gtx 970 for sli, and it just appears to be a really good Motherboard! Would all the parts that I listed above be compatible with this Motherboard and the i5 4460?

Yes, everything should work just fine together with no issues. :) As long as you are happy with your parts and the budget, you are good to go. :)
